Does anyone know of websites other than cricinfo that do decent county coverage? They sent David Hopps to Essex so I'm not really sure what happened today. Lots of circus metaphors though

Dear me, seeing our squad for the last friendly tomorrow, hammered home to me how much we are going to get rolled for some very low scores this year. The paucity of our batting options was already glaringly obvious but our tail is looking really long as well. Fast bowling options to start the season are likely to be Anderson, Wagner, Jarvis, Mahmood. If Kerrigan plays as well its frightening. Couple of years ago we would have Kerrigan at 11 with Hogg & Chapple at 9 & 10. None of our other fast bowling options are much cop with the bat either...Bailey, Buck, Edwards, Griffiths. Suspect we will try to play 2 spinners as much as we can so Lilley plays, or Kerrigan left out a fair bit of the time. Using Clarke/Reece/Proctor as 4th or even 3rd seamer an option as well.

Imagine something like...Hameed, Brown, Petersen, Croft, Livingstone, Davies, Proctor, Kerrigan, Wagner, Anderson, Jarvis

I wonder what the record low number of batting bunes points is? We could destroy it this season.

Bears need to knock Hampshire over quickly, they were poor after lunch yesterday and wasted Barker's brilliance.

This Gloucestershire bowling vs Essex batting is a complete mismatch on paper. Glos bowling lacking in depth in general and missing first teamers Payne and Miles injured. Hampton in my brief viewings isn't good. Shaw a rookie on loan. Essex tons of batting. Not sure it's going to be the kind of test Cook wants.

Jake Ball bowling quickly and getting lift in the Notts game. Bird with the two wickets though.

How close is Ben Duckett to an England callup? Seems to be in stupid form since becoming an opener and England have had massive trouble trying to fill Strauss's hole....

If/when Hales fails there won't be many other candidates if he carries on this rampage of form. Former Eng U19 captain with I believe the highest English average at a U19 ODI World Cup so has pedigree from youth cricket + as skipper you'd hope he has some maturity. Would need to pile up the runs though, and selectors hate picking Div 2 players with some justification.

Seems like bad light is really hurting so far, losing lots of overs when there is no rain is gutting. Bears being stopped by rain at Hampshire, has taken away any chance of a result you'd think just focus on getting as many BPs as we can.

I remember Ian Bishop being really impressed with Garton's pace after watching the U19s in the nets during the world cup, and he doesn't get impressed with pace lightly. He has legit wheels.

Finally taken those last two bloody wickets. Get 4 batting points and then have a look where we are. 12 points to start season wouldn't be a bad return given how the weather has shafted us.

A bit closer given todays news about Taylor. England need an opener and a number 5 now. Huge chance for players now knowing that there are spots available.

Which is worse, Reece Topley scoring runs against you, or someone who actually batted below Reece Topley scoring runs against you?

Jamie Porter great start to the year with the ball. Bears struggling. Need Belly ton here and some lower order runs we are famous for.

Interesting to see who put their hand up with Taylor sad retirement. Tinker with runs first up will help his case but i wonder if the selectors think he is done.

They may have thought he was done but this may force their hand and they may go back to him. Though you would think Bell taking the captaincy at Warwickshire is an indication he is expecting to play for them not England.
