Rodders with the missed stumping of Cook off Taylor. Shame.

Hope we might get some kind of runchase in this Notts Surrey game. 230 in 55 overs or something.

Bell out so looks basically impossible now unless a Jeets special happens. Barks can smoke a few as well.

Not to be, but good effort to get us 12 points in a game wrecked with weather. Solid start to season.

Durham getting the shaft from the weather too. Carse down as right arm fast on Cricinfo. Sounds as though he's more slippery than fast mind.

Vince out and Hampshire 81 behind with 5 wickets remaining as Topley can't bat. Few lefties down the order for Jeets as well. Might yet win this.

Given the perfunctory manner in which Notts dispatched their batting last week, and the fact that we have our strongest attack out, the way Lancs are struggling to roll Cambridge over suggests we are going to have a very difficult summer

Not sure how Compton's place is so secure. Needs runs basically as much as Hales for me.
Compton did quite well when it mattered in SA, whereas Hales struggled throughout iirc.

But I'd keep Hales too for the start of the season.

Compton did score some important runs first test but after that largely failed. Also played some really rotten get out shots. He has more credit than Hales but not massive amounts more imo.

Woakes not bowling. Another injury?

Yeah, Woakes should be put down. There certainly needs to be a serious look at Woakes, Plunker, Finn and Jordan as back-up bowlers for England if they can't stay fit. Gawd despite him just being the type of bowler I don't want to be playing for England, Rushworth has got to be looked at, keeps taking wickets and stays fit.

Think, for England's batting order people are over-complicating things, we've already got a young side, and they believe in continuity and people who can change the game. Bairstows keeping is dreck, Ballance will play, and so will Buttler. I like Vince, as much as the next man, unless the next man is Pothas, but he really hasn't forced his way in with runs since he's been next-in-line. I would like Compo to open really, but I think they'll give Hales another go, simply because we won the series. Also it has to be said over two years he has been imprsessive in first-class cricket.

Buttler will absolutely not play first test of the summer, he is currently smearing Kolkata Knight Riders all over the park. That isn't good prep for test matches.

Luke Fletcher signing for Derby for the early part of the season, should be a good signing, should take a fair few poles in div2. Still "only" 27 seems to have been around decades.

Lancs must have the poorest batting line up in the counties. Notts have batsmen who have made 122 hundreds and Lancs roughly 52 of which Petersen has 39 of those. Croft 10, Brown 2 and Reece 1. Broad will probably get a 10fer.

Leics look better off for the experience they've brought in but it's very tough on Aadil Ali who has been left out of the final xi today. Came in mid season last year and did well (avg 37, only behind Cosgrove) and played a couple of real gutsy knocks.

Good start for Leics with a couple of early wickets.

Ballance comes in early, his first chance to make an international case
