No real excuse for how far behind Dhoni was, but apparently it was ridiculously hot and his fast bowlers were cramping up, which messed around with his bowling changes. It wasn't a minor over rate offence last night. The innings finished about 50 minutes late ffs. I didn't see Australia's innings as I was out. Were there any extenuating circumstances for it taking so long to bowl 50 overs?
Lol.Cricinfo in a mischievious mood with this pic accompanying the article:
Pretty clear implication there unless they're suggesting they literally have a cuppa when fielding.
It should also be said that Sachin was off the field for most of the match yesterday, and that is when India were at their worst in the field all series (were great until this match). Became really sloppy.Lol.
Sachin and Sehwag aren't that bad in the field when you compare it to ****ing Zaheer Khan. He is a disgrace.
Hobbles like he's 50 (which his body probably is).
Good call.Zaheer cost them at least 10 runs on his own yesterday.
Funny how Dhoni's been suspended on both occasions that they've gone in with 4 pace bowlers this summer.
Disagree that it was most of the match, reckon it was about 30-40 minutes max, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to open the batting right? It should also be said that Sachin was off the field for most of the match yesterday, and that is when India were at their worst in the field all series (were great until this match). Became really sloppy.
Certainly sounds like time's been called on it.“Ricky Ponting has been dropped from the squad due to his lack of form in the five Commonwealth Bank Series matches to date in this series.
The team will not seem the same without him, but moving on from the omission of players who have been outstanding over a long period of time is the nature of elite sport.
Will be interested to see what they do with the openers - we have three of them now.
