Lords = Fantastic Cricketing venue.
Basin = Used solely for test cricket, doesn't even get the fans in anymore like it used to, has major issues around wind meaning that broadcast can't be guaranteed, has a **** wicket and has had for many years, and impacts Wellington's traffic.
Yes, it's "the home" of NZ Cricket, but if you look at Eden Park and how little we're starting to use it, the fact is Wellington has another stadium already that although would look terribly sparse on TV should they play test cricket there, has the potential to support cricket better in the region than the Basin does.
I realise it likely won't happen, but ultimately I see no reason to persist with the Basin, and if there were pragamatists in Wellington council, they'd see the same.
