I thought Mick Lewis was injured? Clingeleffer getting out late on is a bit of blow, Geeves can smack a few around but Marsh will need to make most of the 40 or so they need for 1st innings points.

Good decision. Tasmanian majority on the selection panel just as the era of domination dawns ;)

Warne's average for Victoria is low 30's. Meh.

What I do take seriously is the guys who play club cricket with him at St. Kilda saying he's bowling doubly as good this year as he was for them last year. I'm sure some of that's preparation, and some of that is how seriously he's taking all the cricket he can get with the Ashes coming up, but ... yeah.

Di Venuto and Bailey lift Tasmania up to 393/6 at the close of play on day 2. They look set to take the first innings points but I think this game might turn into a draw.

Well batted, Tassie. Would've made it easier for them only facing one front-line seamer, though.

James Hopes doing his national duty by playing Gilchrist into form here. Woeful bowling, and Gilchrist is doing a solid job putting him away.

WA still have Hussey, North and Vogues to come. 350+ on the cards.

Hopes hasn't bowled that badly, it's just gilchrist has been on fire.

Watson with a hamstring twinge. Has stopped bowling.

Watson gone again. Best stop picking him for Australia, every time it happens he injures himself. What luck!!

Watson will hope that this hamstring tweak isn't too serious. Great to see Gilchrist batting well. Johnson and Watson about the only ones with any credibility left after the rest of the bowlers have been smashed by Western Australia's opening pair.

Shane Warne picks up three wickets against Tasmania as Daniel Marsh was left stranded on 95*. Jewell looks set for a century and Brad Hodge is in fine form, currently 55*.

I'd not pick Watson for the 1st test if he's recovering from any sort of strain. Could just re-injure it.

Hopes came back alright, but his early overs were some of the worst OD bowling I've seen in a long time. One wide long hop, one leg-side half-volley... then around the wicket and foot down leg side. Absolutely shocking. Once Gilchrist was seeing it better it didn't really matter how you bowled to him.

Anyway, shocking news regarding Watson. Every time he's making strides forward in his career he gets injured again. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he can play the second test.
