Biased I know, at lots of other blokes bowled really well, but Bracken smashed it today. So many play and misses and hits on the pad. Great work by NSW.

If Michael Clarke was playing, why weren't the other selected test players playing? Was it a voluntary thing or did all the other test players have a day scheduled off?

Micheal Clarke may not play in the 1st Test, if Watson fit, unlikely, but they allowed him to play beacause he wasn't selected in the intial squad.

Haurie has 6 wkts for 100 (16.6666)in one dayers this year will give cullen a run for his money as 2nd spinner for the world cup.Cullen 1 for 122,cullen bailey 16 wkts at 39 bar humbug, will cullen keep his place.
Bevo averaged 13.666 in one dayers this year, what a laugh he talking up his world cup chances, phhherrttt.
I gather christian won his chance because of his strike rate and he also moves round the order which o'brien doesn't do well, fine line there, but gather his speed at scoring is an incentive,he also can bowl medium pace.O'brien will be back.
Noticed kat failed today  will that convince the selectors i think not.
Shame we didn't get a double BP.
NSW v WA looks fun at the scg with WAs' bowling our batsmen will smash a big score and macgilla can clean up.

How did MacGill break his nose? First I hear of...

And yes Hauritz is looking good in ODD, I admire his will to come to NSW and seek form....it was a risky thing but it seems to be working out.

Is there a lack of specialist batsmen after Pura Cup Cricket, or is it more of a lack of oppuritunty. Just having a look at some of sides in the CA Cup, 2nd XI comp, there seems to be a lot of all rounders being picked and some as specialist batsmen.

Just having a look at Tasmania, Lockyear opening the batting, granted he got a hundred last season, but when he was in NSW he was always seen as bowler who could hold a bat. Then from five to seven you got Butterworth, Wright and Doherty. Granted all are decent batsmen, but you would think with those guys in the side you would play an extra batsmen. If im not mistaken Tasmania have 7 specialist bowling options in their side.

NSW do the same thing, with some like Lambert always playing as a opening batsmen. Stephen O'Keefe in the last game didn't even get a bowl, as we eight bowling options. The real concern for me is that someone like Tom Cooper and James Packman doesn't get a run in the 2nd XI side, cus their is too many all rounders, who are taking up batting spots.

Someone like Dan Christian was in and out of the 2nd XI side for the last couple seasons, continually perferred for more bowling all rounders, even though he was an all rounder himself. IMO he would have made the NSW side a lot earlier if given more oppurtunites in 2nds. Someone like Cowan would have been more consistiant by now, if given more chances.

Is it a case of lack of specialist batsmen, or too many all rounders being picked.

I'd say it's a case of all-rounders at grade level putting more pressure on selectors, because if they fail in one aspect then they can make up for it. So they can have 5-7 games in a row where they do really well, rather than a batsman who might only have 2-3 games in a row where he smokes 'em, because eventually he'll nick one early.

Fair all charminda.
Altho the 2 best bats in grade this year lambert and jarrad burke.
Khawajah got a call up for the 2ndxl after a average season but he flopped.
I would give the no 7 position to jarrad burke he has earned it more than 200 in the 2nd xl game.
I have no problem with macgill being assisted by burke and o'brien's spinners.
Henriques casson has failed at 7 lambert too and kregja. We had haddin at 7 which is why it was stable before.
Time to stop the experiementation
Same as tassie kremeskothern for years tried tested and failed, butterworth was 7 last year but doherty is batting above him in the one dayers so fragile is his batting.
Tassie should give jade selby or michael divin who has joined from canberra a chance they both bowl mediums, and its not as if butterworth is shining with the ball anyway.
As to 2nd xl i would like a better balance altho o'keefe holds his 2nd xl spot with his batting.Kregja and lambert are not top 6 batsmen.
The next experiemntation will be nathan hauritz at 7 for the blues side mark my words, also casson gone for 60 a wkt this year.

I don't think you can really say Henriques has failed yet. His scored runs in ODs and against England. His only has a couple games for NSW, im sure he'll atleast score a couple 50s this season. Also his bowling has been quite impressive, but probably not good enough yet to make the side as specialist bowler.

Also it should be noted that Casson, scored a 50 this season, i wouldn't keep him at 7. Also i think Burke best chance is as a opener, but with the Katich and maybe Clarke back, he has to fight Cowan for the opener spot. As long as Mail doesn't get infront of them i don't care.

Wonderful to see Hauritz in the wickets...:)

Katich not doing his ODI recall any favours...:)
You supporting anything NSW (even if he is a Queenslander) is just as bad as Phil Gould supporting Queensland.

I expected better mate :p

Word on the grapevine is that O`Brien has been changing his tactics a bit of late, a different grip on the bat or something, and it certainly hasn`t helped him so far. Looked shaky after his great start.
