Langer's 50 was the fastest ever in ODD.
Watching Katich bat was a nightmare for every Australian cricket fan but think how painful it would have been for Langer after he was pigeon holed for scoring too slowly.

That seems to be a bit of a myth though, Langer has been known to crank up the pace big time when he has felt like it. He is a grafter in the Test arena and tries to stick around, because that's his job when he is playing test cricket. He wouldn't have made a bad ODI opener but with Mark Waugh, Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden all doing a good job he was never really required.

TBH I'm surprised he never got another game somewhere I mean it is not as they he can't score quickly as it has been mentioned. And Stuart MacGill got pidgeon holed as a Test bowler pretty quickly despite doing not a lot wrong in his few ODIs. I mean I have seen far worse and players get more games.

Anyway I looked up WA bowler Shawn Gillies and I didn't expect to him to be 25, I thought he was much younger. If I were him (and I'm not obviously) I would have looked at going back and seeking out a career there back in Jamaica (where he was born), I mean if he is good enough to play FC cricket in Australia then he has something going for him IMO (obviously he would be have to be taking wickets in Jamaican club cricket first).

Either way I like his nickname - Jamaican Gold - much better then this rubbish nicknames like 'Kat', 'Punter', 'Haydos', 'Gillie', 'Warney', 'Pidgeon', 'Watto', any imbred country hick could come up with those.

I think Langer and MacGill biggest problem were that they were seen as poor fielders, more then anything else. Its seems to be Jaques' current problem as well.

Admittly I didn't see Langer play much before 1999, but there is nothing wrong with his fielding from I have seen.

As i said he and the others are seen/preceived to be poor fielders. If Langer was Sri Lankan, he would be one of our best fielders.

What do you guys think of Marcus North playing for Australia in the future, he seems to be getting his act back together recently?

I'd be interested in what people think of Marcus North, I haven't seen much of him, he played in England for Lancashire in 2005, and I'm sure we didnt see the best of him. He wasn't particularly impressive but he was only there for 3 Championship games.

I really don't rate him. He gets brought up every so often as a potential Australian player but I don't think he's anywhere good enough to get such mentions. Nothing better than a slightly-above-average state player.

I think there are better players then Marcus North comming through. I think the likes of Voges, Marsh, Paine, Bailey, Cosgrove, Ferguson, Phillipson and Bogas all are going/are to be better the him. In time so will Cowan, Christain and Cooper. Will end up being just a solid state player.

I think daniel christian is a real shooter, bats like andrew symmonds mark waugh rates him.Maybe needs to learn to build an inning a bit more but definitely an aussie Rep for the future.Hopscotched o'brien for a place in the NSW side.
If marcus north is consistent you never know think his average is helped by the waca pitch at the moment, same as chris rogers.

Love Henriques bowling. Nice simple action, and he's a smart bowler for such a young guy.

Some interesting selection from NSW Haurtiz over MacGill and Christain over O'Brien. Haurtiz has been our No. 1 bowler, i hate to admitt, but they really should have played two spinners. Bollinger got a pretty crap ODD record, its as bad as Nicholson. O'Brien been is bit unlikey, his been one of our best OD bats in the last 2-3 seasons, Christain probably should have been forced to wait till Clarke or Katich are in the Aussie Team. Bracken what a gun, im so glad he didn't get picked for Australia, only if they forgot about Clark too.

EDIT: Was thinking about Bollinger FC record, thats crap not his OD. Should have played two spinners regardless.
