Anyone know much about James Pattinson's batting? Batting ahead of Wright (a good bat) and Siddle (handy) but his record looks ordinary though admittedly as small sample size, so curious to find out what he's like.
Scored a ton in second grade when he was 18, which is pretty good going. He's batted as high as 4 at times in first grade too.

Pretty disappointing for South Australia to not salvage the draw with one ball left in the day. I guess that is what happens when you have Peter George batting at 11.

Pretty ****ing poor form the SACA selectors as well, O'Brien contributed to his case yesterday as a batsmen with a nice 0. As far as I'm concerned O'Brien out and Lyon in, for FC cricket anyway. Borgas or ( insert grade batsmen here ) need to be brought in for the extra batting. Batting cost SA big time in that shield game unfortunately and SA can consider themselves lucky that the tail wagged and Manou is in some decent form with the bat.

Also, I think that the pace attack of George, Haberfield, Cassell and Richardson ( if picked ) is a bit one dimensional and one paced. Edmondson returning will bring that extra pace and willingness to attack a bit more, which is what the team needs.

Lyon ( L )

Said it after Redbacks' Big Bash win that their intensity in the other formats has been pretty poor and this shield game kind of proves it all over again. Find it pretty hard to believe that a side that were looking head and shoulders above other sides albeit in a completly different format start looking so flat in a matter of few days.

Redbacks certainly aren't the best FC side in the country or anything but you still back them to beat or at worst draw a game against this Western Australian side.

Also read the argument regarding who should be Australia' spinners for tour of Sri Lanka, all sort of names were thrown into the ring but for me its hard to look beyond Hauritz and O'Keffe at this point of time as both of them have been performing quite decently for the Blues in the recent times, though it wouldn't really surprise me if Beer and Lyon are send to Sri Lanka.

Bailey probably has this bad habit of scoring runs when it hardly matters, had he shown this sort of form at the start of the season then there is every chance he would have made it into the Australian side; for a guy with his ability he has hardly done himself any justice.

Wow.!! This is some individual effort from Bailey on the last day chasing 319 against a decent Vics' attack, has to be one of better knocks in the recent history of Shield cricket.

EDIT: Also why is Faulkner so under-rated around here, for a kid of his age he seems to have pretty strong basics with both bat and ball and so far he has had a pretty good start to his career.

Faulkner might have all the basics, but I've seen nothing to suggest he'll improve enough to be a future star. Screams 'State Cricketer' alongside Hopes and Thornley.

Fantastic innings by Bailey, WAG.

Aesthetically he seems very average - doesn't swing the ball despite barely bowling above medium pace and is a limited batsman. Credit to the way he's performed - he's had an absolutely fantastic season by anyone's standards - but I think it's safe to say that most people think he'll fall away a bit before he kicks on unless he adds a dimension to his game.

By the way Nath - there's no way you're the number one fan of Nathan Lyon even amongst CricketWeb members. Julian87 has been singing his praises for a couple of years now. :p
