nah I'm fairly sure the selectors LOVE the Hilf-Siddle-MJ attack and seriously think it's the road to success. (2 wins out of 9 ashes matches together iirc...and both times there was an extra seamer) but yeah the spin slot anything could happen. But I think they'll stick with Beer (unless Krejza stars)
When will Harris be fit? cbf checking.

Can see the selectors picking a bolter. A Copeland or someone.

Not sure if he'll be fit. But I wouldn't pick him anyway. He's a ticking time bomb :( Hopefully for him he can make cash in the IPL + Aus. T20 League before he has to retire though

I reckon they may have picked Cameron for the SCG test, but he missed the whole of the BigBash with a hamstring so he may have not been available. They might pick a bolter in the squad but I dunno know. I just get the feeling Hilf will have a good end to the season (half of his remaining games are at Bellerive presumably) and do enough to make the squad. And from there....

(and obviously my dream of one of Siddle and MJ going won't happen)

Harris hopes to play the final Shield game of the Summer, and will definitely be fit for the SL tour.

Easily our best test bowler at present.

A real banker.

Even in Adelaide he held his own.

Hauritz and Krejza (along with Smith) will be the spinners for the SL tour.

Krejza has proven he can take a bagful on pitches turning square (see his Test debut) and they'll no doubt be spinning decks in SL.

I always chuckle when I see someone try and predict who the Australian Test spinner will be for a certain game and then back it up using something resembling sane cricketing logic. Sure, those are good reasons why Hauritz and Krejza should be the two chosen, but that has no baring on who the selectors will actually go for.

Australia's spinners for Sri Lanka could well be Hauritz and Krejza, but if they are it'll be for reasons which are either factually wrong or logically ********. Krejza's bowling being very well suited to the conditions and Hauritz being an improved bowler with a decent Test record on the back of his best ever Shield season will not count for anything to the selectors, because that actually makes sense.

Might have a whole new selection panel by then, who might have some common sense. Krezja has a lot of support for sure, he and Hauritz would be the best picks, but i'm not sure either of them will trouble the SL batsmen on flat decks. Stick with a strong pace attack I reckon, plus one decent-ish spinner, like South Africa used to in the 90's, they never had too much trouble winning on the SC.

Aaron O'Brien in at 5. Oh geez.
Yeah, of the three candidates to bat five given the eleven chosen, he'd have been my last choice. His bowling has improved this season but his batting form has been absolutely gash. That said, he's the sixth bowler in this lineup so I guess the thinking is that, given he's playing as a specialist bat, he needs to man up and justify his spot.

Really puts him in a **** position, though. No tons for SA in the 3 (?) seasons he's been here yet, right in the middle of a form slump, he'd probably need one to justify picking him at 5 as a specialist bat.

He's always looked pretty crap to me, but has had some real good performances this season. Came into this match averaging about 25 with a 6fa to his name so he's done okay.

South Australia throwing away a good chance of victory through poor selection policy. O'Brien could possibly make the worst number 5 in state history. Christian is too high at 6. Even Manou shouldn't be at 7, one decent innings a season pumps his average up.

The Victorian season I would rather forget about. The only point I'd like to make is about Damien Wright. I have highlighted his incredible record since leaving Tasmania before, but I'd like to highlight his record for Victoria against Tasmania.

26 Wickets @ 16.11 with an ER of 2.13. Sydney Barnes esque.

The more I think about it, the more I'm fair stunned by the SACA thought processes regarding the batting line-up. You've got both openers coming back into the side who have feel their way back after rubbish seasons so far and you lose two batsmen to the World Cup. Do you replace at least one of them with a batsman? No. Instead, you pick 4 batsmen, 6 bowlers/bowling allrounders and ask two of them to bat at 5 and 6, bat one of them at 5 who has barely scored a run all year and then bat your keeper, who does have some runs behind him, down the order at 7. This despite that both Borgas' have been in the runs recently and if ever there was an occasion to make sure you had plenty of batting, this surely was it.

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

I like the way Peter George has responded to his one-off Test with a decent first class season for South Australia. Very little has been mentioned of him this-year, likely due to his terrible performance for Australia A. He is one of the few fast bowling 'prospects' who is putting up decent first class performances for his state though.

I don't think he was hard done by from the Australian selectors. He wasn't terrible in India, but even his biggest South Australian fans would admit he is a good two-three seasons away from reaching a possible peak. George will play for Australia again in Test cricket at some stage, I think that is clear.
