Wouldn't Rogers get the reserve batting spot. I doubt they will take two extra batsmen for 3 Test series. Also Ronchi would be a shoe in for a spot in the squad, as reserve keeper, if he is seem as long term option.

That's a scary thought.

I think Katich could get the spot as he could bat anywere in the top 6 really.

Ronchi I could see him I guess in an ODI, but he's far from ready to play a Test. I don't think he'd make a 13 man squad at all.

If they take a 14 man squad, you would think they would take a reserve keeper, which is likely to Ronchi. 13 man squad then just one extra batsmen, a seamer and spinner. Would be interesting to see what they do. With the first XI pretty secure ATM, I think they might take some players who are seen as long term options as the back up players.

Hayden looks like the next to retire with the bat, so it would make sence to bring Rogers. Most people feel that Haddin will only be a short term option. So an extra keeper wouldn't be a strange move. Spinner they will probably go with Hogg and MacGill as neither have secured their spots and only McGain looks close to being ready for Tests. Seamers Noffke will go as Bollinger broken down.

I think the squad needs to be 15 for Ronchi to get a chance.

Pretty much agree with what you say though. 11 plus one extra batsmen, spinner and fast bowler is 14 and then Ronchi would need to be 15th.

Haddin will get enough games to become an established test cricketer then someone like Wade will take over in my opinion. Ronchi should still tour though as the back up. He's surely number two in the country after Gilchrist's retirement...even if Manou has scored more runs than him of late.

Why would you send over a reserve keeper? Just to make Haddin feel threatened? Only one gloveman going on that tour to Pak.

I'm glad the players who felt they needed a break didn't sign up.

I'm quite surprised not to see James Hopes on the list... I'd have thought he'd be a really good player to have.

If you look through the players signed, there are a lot of all rounder and high profiled all rounder from the other countries. Also quite a few of them are seam bowling all rounders. So I guess they felt they were better off going for some extra Aussies batsmen in Hussey, Katich and co. Also Hopes isn't going to bring too many people into the ground. He will always be a good team player, rather then a big name, flashy type.

Yeah... perhaps. Just think he'd win more games for you than Katich/Langer etc...

And oops... replied in the wrong thread, so sorry about that.

On fire, isn't he?

Have to say, that's a p*ss poor NSW attack though. They struggle enough in the 50 overs stuff without having 5 quicks out for various reasons.

Didn't see the first innings, but Hauritz looks to have come out of the game with decent figures.

Don't know why N.S.W. persist with Bird, he's crap.

I agree very much about Bird, but we had so many injuries that we didn't really have many other options. Burt ****ley was 12th man, but he's even more inaccurate than Bird and is generally more interested in hitting batsmen than getting them out, so he wouldn't be the best choice for one day cricket anyway..
