Cosgrove gone for 184. Excellent innings. He'll play for Australia in ODI's at least!

Australia will be searching for a reserve batsman for the South African series, so if Clarke doesn't pile on the runs and Watson isn't fit then Cosgrove could be a candidate.

what if Martyn scored heavily during that time, you still would go for him?

I wouldn't have dropped him in the first place. But yeah if he scores runs he has to be considered, but if he plays in the VB series he's not going to get many chances, although there's no guarantee he will be selected.

That is if Hodge and Symonds can find more consistency at Test Level then they have sometimes been unable to find at State Level. Who knows McCosgrove could be fighting for a starting spot by the South Africa tour. Cossie it is time to get off your fat backside and working on your medos again, so you can show the Australian selectors your their answer to their all rounder problem. :p

Also btw im not writing off Symonds and Hodge after only a couple games, as they are both capable of playing Test Cricket for a long period, but if they don't perform at the high level required by the Australian Team then McCosgrove could be fighting for a starting spot.

NSW well on top against Queensland. :D But all of day two was washed out. :@ NSW bowled QLD out for 266, and they are 7/470 in reply, with Michael Clarke , on 194, his highest first class score. The lead is 205, so at least NSW will take out first innings points.

odds are pretty good now of Clarke topping the pura cup batting averages considering he wont play that many more games.

Chances of NSW getting the outright this afternoon? I doubt it, especially seeing they lack a real class spinner. Howver, the NSW pacemen have performed on the SCG, but I think Qld's batting will be good enough to hold out

Great effort from Clarke. If he keeps playing like that he'll be back in the test team soon.
ha, that will cause some dilemma in the middle order wont it....

also decent return for Dizzy, if he keeps his form uo he could be back for the VB series hopefully.
