He's got 15 wickets so far this season and shares top spot with Paul Rofe.

At an average of 36.26 though....but he's taking wickets.
He's been taking tail-end wickets. He's often wicketless after 35 or 40 overs. Please to see that he finally got some top order players out and got a five-fa.

I was seeing the highlights of the Rothman's Cup semi final 1985 or 1986 between India and Pakistan. Imran Khan mentiones he had just played a Sehffield Shield game between NSW and another state team and one of the two teams had won by a wicket. He said there were 7-8 test players in both teams.

What are the regulations for international players to play domestic state level cricket in Australia and the history of it? Hooper played a bit a couple of years back too.

Hooper played in Melbourne in the District Competition, as did Abdul Qadir. Neither actually got a game for Victoria. In fact, both Vikram Solanki and Paul Collingwood came over here and played grade cricket - and did very well - without ever getting close to a match.

It's pretty much unheard of now for an international player to get a game if they come over for a short term stay like Imran Khan did. States don't really see the benefit of it, when that person is halting the development of another player. There was an influx in the '80s of players - Botham, Khan, and a few West Indians all played over here - but it died out reasonably quickly.

I'm pretty sure there's a restriction of 1 international player per state. And with only 6 sides, there's limited opportunities for internationals to find their way into a side.

Im not sure if thats the restriction as NSW technically have two overseas players in Murry Creed and Greame Thorpe.

Yeah, not entirely sure either. Maybe it's in the team at once though? Meh.

I know in Grade Cricket here there is a restricition to two overseas players, cus Manly got this English guy last season, cus Sydney Uni had too many overseas players. So my guess is that if there is a restriction it would be two players. But im not sure if Murry Creed is classified as a overseas player cus when he came to Australia he didn't play FC cricket the year before.

Most of those players were brought in by Qld to try and win the shield, they even grabbed Greg Chappell for a while and even he couldn't bring them the Shield.

Close win for Tassie, good show by Di Venuto. Gillespie currently bowling excellently, but with 6-odd no-balls.
