Kohli in ODIs is genuinely at bradmanesque levels right now. Despite the fact that this is the easiest era for ODI batting, he's a legit monster.

Cummins and Zampa clearly leading the way with the ball this series. Glad Cummins could improve so much in ODIs.

Yeah Australia is looking a much better outfit than it did a few months ago.

With a bunch of guys due to come back in, Maxwell batting well, Cummins finally adapting to ODIs and a captain that knows how to use Zampa, things are looking good. If Finch finds form they’ll be a big threat.

Keep this up and some of our biggest flaws have been cleared.

Still probably a gun batsman short even with Warner/Smith there but the WC squad does not look anywhere near as bad as a lot of people are implying.

India's top order is settled I reckon. Jadeja looks like a domestic one day #4 - out of position and more importantly out of his depth in this team.
Anything but settled despite the impressive figures at the top. Who apart from Kohli can you depend on to come good at least every other game? We are carrying passengers in Rayudu and Jadeja, both pivotal positions in a 50 over innings. Our top 2 seem to think their placid starts will always be covered by Kohli and the bowlers but if the trend continues we're looking mediocre 260 odd scores and only the occasional 300+.

Insane stuff from Kohli. He's already one of the all time greats. While a good WC win will be the icing on the cake there is nothing that is preventing him from achieving the greatest ever should he vo on like this for another 3 or 4 years

What really stands out wrt ODI Kohli from a distance (indeed as it does with Bradman) is that he's played with and against some very decent players in his time - Amla, ABdV, Root,Dhoni, even Sachin himself for some time - and he's still looked streets ahead of the rest in terms of his mastery of this format.

One little tidbit that I found especially interesting

"I have to play the game that's gotten me till this level, and that's the same thing I want to continue in the middle. I was really disappointed I got out - I really thought we had a chance there with the difference of 20 between balls and runs. That's what happens - Australia played better and Adam bowled really well and they deserved to win."
I've always wondered whether this differential is something chasing batsmen pay attention to even more than RRR. Seems that it might be.

Rohit and Dhawan being completely out of form is making us vulnerable at the moment. Hopefully they can recover it by the World Cup. Not too worried since they're proven class and have more than enough credit in the bank. Rayudu doesn't look up to it, and TBH, never really has, but he's somehow averaged 50 and I don't know what other alternative we have at this point. He'll probably make the squad at the very least.

Rahul should have got more match practice. Could be backup for Rayudu too. And Pant should have got enough games too but we are stuck with Dhoni. Those 2 (Rayudu and Dhoni) are biggest weak links.

My mind goes back to 2011 lineup. We had so many batsmen who could do the job – Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Dhoni and even young Kohli and lower order specialist Raina. That batting and today's bowling would have been such a gun combo.

Kohli has cracked the ODI chase psychology the same way great batsmen's brains make infinite micro computations regarding length, line, speed, etc. Couldn't care less if he doesn't perform at a WC tbh. He deals with unreal pressure just being Virat Kohli. To come good time and again despite that warrants the GOAT label.

Overconfidence and carelessness, really? The bloke who made 123 (95) to keep us in it single-handedly while the next highest contribution was 32?

Yep. If he wins a WC and continues this for at least 8 more years then he can be considered top tier.
If he can do that, he may be considered to belong to the highest tier; on par with other legendary stars like Mark Waugh. If. WC. etc.

He of courses played very well. I'm not saying or implying anything else at all. On that one ball his concentration did lapse. After hitting 2 back to back boundaries he played a rather odd shot and yorked himself.

I'm usually the first to bag guys who don't get the job done after they're set but I don't think he was dudded by a lapse, thought it was a good bit of bowling that got him.

That said, some support might have been nice.
