*Official* Australia in West Indies Thread

When Caddick had somewhat of a homecoming to NZ last year when England toured here, it was reported on tv at the time that Caddick had written in his local column back in England that he didn't rate NZ at all.

So he's been known to stir before.

With the press and their seeming dislike of Caddick over here, it would have made the newspapers and more than likely the national news (not just the sports sections).

Hence we can kind of assume that nothing of note really happened.
Wow never knew Caddick was that disliked.

He did somthing though I can deffinatly vouch for that.

He had a back injury according to Cricinfo.
Yep, he does. Otherwise, I have no doubt that WI would be chasing alot less right now. He was bowling really well.

it really doesn't bother me that response, and that you guys are willing to right me off as some fool, but the fact is I do know what I go on about and I dont hold back on my thoughts - I don't take the diplomatic "oo yea Bangladesh have some potential" line.
Did you ever consider that I was being serious? If someone was at the ground, then they should know.

Congratulations Ramnaresh Sarwan!! 101 not out!

Wondeful innings! True class and resilliance. Great composure, the makings of an outstanding player!

Now this is just tragic. The standard of umpiring has reached a serious low in this series. David Shepherd whom I have the utmost respect for has just made a ridiculous decision to basically take WI out of an evenly placed game.

The CricInfo call:-

90.3 Lee to Jacobs, OUT: dear-oh-dear! This can't be true, Umpire Shepherd gives Jacobs out caught behind, a snorter from Lee, hit Jacobs elbow, nowhere near the glove or bat, Jacobs clearly unhappy, makes the slow walk back to the pavilion

West Indies 288/6, Partnership of 0
RD Jacobs c Gilchrist b Lee 0 (1b 0x4 0x6)
S Chanderpaul 56* (84b 10x4)
B Lee 13.3-3-38-3 (2nb)

Lee is on a hat-trick
The crowd not too happy with that decision to give Jacobs out, that
was a poor decision
All credit to Jacobs, he did not question it, walked back accepting the decision
A lot of bottles and stuff was thrown into the ground by the irate crowd
Steve Waugh helps to get rid of all the bottles
Omari Banks is the new batsman, and Lee is on a hat-trick

Just tragic...

Well if the best of the elite umpiring panel cannot get much more than half the decisions right, what point is there in having umpires at all?

There is too much at stake in these matches for errors to influence the course of a match.. If the technology is there, lets use it.. Wasnt that thing in the ICC champions trophy a success?

Banks and Chanderpaul compiling a bit of a partnership.. This game isnt over yet!

Was going to say, I still have a good feeling that West Indies have a chance.....they've done very well so far. :) There's always still a chance when Chanderpaul is still in.

Banks is the key. Looking at the career of Chanderpaul, you have to trust that he will be there late in the piece. It's already been a very encouraging chase from the West Indies. They've shown that they don't completely revolve around Lara.

This game looks to be under control for the West Indies, I doubt they'll win it because they need 85 odd from 11 overs but they've toughed it out after a poor start this morning.

Yes. Last I checked, there are 5 days in a Test match ;) :D.

371/6 - 47 needed
Chanderpual 103 not out
Banks 28 not out

oops, yeah I've just seen that that was only the 4th day so if Banks can hang in there with Chanderpaul then the West Indies should get this one.

If it were any team other than the Aussies, I would've been quite confident of a West Indian win, but the Aussies will fight it out till the last run. So, it will be a good scrap tomorrow...

I wouldn't go so far as yet. One decision does not an umpire make....although it was a really, really, really bad decision.

well this is a turn up for the books.

I still think the match is very even giving Australias record of coming out in the morning session and blasting teams away.

2 wickets within 5 runs and the Windies are back on the ropes especially if Jacobs is out, but 50 runs isn't very far considering how far they have come.

This is the type of performance that will earn them respect rather than the first 3 dismal outings.

But once again, Australia have shown their big weakness - inability to control themselves under pressure. They all go on about how hard of a team they are, but when the opposition batsmen get stuck in a for a while, they completely lose the plot, particularly McGrath and Lee. It's definetaly the way to beat this team - value your wicket like its your life because if a pair can bat for an hour, they get a little bit touchy. A pair bats for 2 hours and they do start to get very upset and you can bat for a long time.
