No, no, I'm happy with his little bubble of polite perfection. (although I wouldnt mind a few cracking sixes in between ;))

If only Gilly was a good starter against spin because once he is set he plays it beutufully chancless innings so far.

Murili going at four runs an over ATM.

What are you talking about Gillys is a great player on poor pitches not necicarily spinning pitches but I would never doubt him otherwise.

This pitch seems to have more in it for the quicks any way by the looks of things.

Unfortunatly you are not very well informed about Gilchrist if you dont rate him good enough to make the Australian team no matter what the pitch is like.
when i said "on these types of wickets" i meant slow, turning wickets not wickets that offered seam movement or anything else
i wouldnt pick him on these wickets or against a good spin attack. its no surprise that he averages only 29.40 against the indians and well 1.33 against SL before this match. i havent been able to watch this match against SL so i have no idea what kind of wicket it is but if it a wicket that offers more for the faster bowlers than for the spinners i wouldnt be surprised at all

Yep he does not like the spinning wickets as much and it make's it especialy hard batting at number seven.

Having said that he really is quite a good player of spin once he gets setteld it's just that early period before he reaches 20 or so.

Is it me or does the Aussie team try something different in the 2nd innings on this tour? Or is it the pitch?

It is bewildering how in the first innings, the Aussies can be bowled out for next to nothing and then the second innings comes along, and suddenly they cannot bowl us out quickly.......

know where i can get a graphic one?i figure if i have gilchrist as my avatar i might as well have a good one:P
Do you mean an animated one? Too much work for me, but maybe somebody else can find one or conjure one up for you - I kinda liked the sh*t-eating grin on his face as he held up his Alan Border medal though... :cool2:

Gilchrist 140 n.o. off 173 balls, amazing stuff ... I wish I was watching this!

This match will be out of Sri Lanka`s reach by lunchtime tomorrow.

Great Innings by Gilly he came in under big pressure and has made a brilliant chancless hundred.

I wonder if he can turn it into a double hundred tomorow.

OMG what a surprise...gilchrist fails again!!
another duck...i still have my bet on that hes not gonna reach a 50 in this entire series(ATM he'll be lucky to get to double figs)
Well you were half right; he didn't score 50. He scored a 100 in fact and is red inks at the minute so he may yet turn it into a double tomorrow.

Just a tip for any future predictions; batsmen who average 50+ at Test level generally don't fail to score less than double figures for an entire series. Here endeth the lesson.

WOW (said in sarcasm) martyns had a couple of good test matches and now hes "THE ROCK".

If he had had a few good consistent years like hayden it might warrant the name of the rock but he hasnt so think about it before you post.
So what do you call constantly averaging over 40 in every series then?
