If you look at the silly comments by ou Australian friends, you would know that is a NO :) but how silly do they look now :)

Not particularly silly? It was completely reasonable to assume the game was over at the halfway point, and didn't really have anything to do with arrogance. If you score 434 you expect to win the game. South Africa achieved the near-impossible.

That would be why Boucher was in my squad, kind sir. ;)
In mine, too. ;)

(was just trying to point out that Gilchrist and Boucher are the ones who should really be traded off against each other, but as they're completely different batsmen, you might have a point)

Don't you just hate having to get up early to start work at 6am? Well I did when I heard about the result.

It would have been great to have watch. And lol at that South African fan they showed on the news having a snooze when Australia were batting

Bollix. In the game of cricket as we know it today you don't dismiss a side like South Africa with the quality of batsmen they have halfway through a game. Thats complete arrogance and stupidity. We have gusts, glory and pride ... If Aus can do it, so can SA they have shown that and there was no reason to think that SA could not get that. Bowler for bowler and batsmen for batsmen we can match them and do better ...

Well gee, how can I argue with that?

No team had ever scored in excess of 400 in an ODI. No team had ever chased more than 350 in an ODI. Australia had a fairly weak bowling attack, but had two bowlers at least who are quite good in the ODI format. The ground was small and the pitch was flat, but the score was utterly unprecedented and nobody in their right might would have ever predicted a South African victory, or even that they would get particularly close.

You can be pleased with the South African chase all you like, but that doesn't mean that the people who assumed without second thought that Australia would win comfortably after posting 434 were being arrogant, because they were just being sensible.

You are hilarious you know that. here are a few examples:

Do you have a mcrgath?
Do you have a Shane warne?
Do you have a Gilly?

I know there was a gentlemen agreement between the two teams of not using the supersub, but with the situation getting desperate it woulnt have ben a bad idea to bring Hogg in for some one like Martyn. Technically supersub rule is still in effect.

Was Mcgrath playing? Was Warne? Gilly, well I will put him up against Boucher at current form and Im pretty sure he will walk away with the honours. His keeping is also better, at best I would say that SA doesn't have anyone to compete with Ponting, but Gibbs showed that he can do what Ponting does and better it :)

PS** I would rather have a Pollock in my team ANY day than a McGrath.

I surely had my doubts about SA chasing down that score, but I wasn't dumb enough to turn the TV off and think *No way can they score that* ... that is what I refer to as complete arrogance. But it came back and bit you dingo lovers in the *** :)

Lovin it !! Lovin the game !!

Oh wait now i see the reasons for your absurd posts, your a kiwi- another bias poster obviously against Australia. Damn ram rooters

dont know see how it can be called arrogant, when Australia has beaten the highest score in the world and then some and then for a team batting second to come even close seemed impossible even on the match box ground

Edit- Sorry no offence to any kiwis but that guy, had to reply to the dingo remark

Well, you didn't really have the choice to turn the TV off anyway... considering it wasn't on NZ TV...

Not something I would put past Ponting todo when times get tuff :) It would be like the 1981 underarm saga at the MCG, Aus capable of bad sportmanship then, more than likely capable of it now.

I would strongly suggest you stop that sort of behaviour if you want to continue posting on these forums...

Wrong :) Im not a kiwi ...

Aus is becoming very well known as the team that can't defend big scores, no reason to believe anything else yesterday :) specially with a pitch that even made Katich look good :)

So immeditely presume oh yeah 430 odd is an each total to chase even though Lee and bracken are in fine form?

Actually with Satlink you can watch what ever you want :)

But no I didn't have the choice, but I did choose to follow it on cricinfo :) because I wasn't dumb enough to think that SA will just give up and not fight for a win.

Lee got 6 wickets in 4 games, 4 of those in 1 game @ an economy rate of almost 6. Now if you call that fine form, you have a problem. If Smith got off to a good start, nothing was going to stop him from bullying the bowlers as he showed.

Don't be so blooming one eyed. Im not saying I knew SA was going to win, but I surely didn't write them off before they came out to bat. Most if not ALL Aussies from what I read here "knew" Aus would win this one.

Have you been reading the blog on smh.com.au? It hillarious to see your country men make complete asses out of themselfs.

Hindsight :)

Perhaps looking like it, but I for one surely didn't write them off. But maybe its just the love for my country and team ... call it patriotism
