How many computers do you reckon will be eaten if Lewis is selected for Australia ever again?

I saw his expression when they flashed his bowling record on the scoreboard and the crowd laughed at him. I felt so sorry for the guy. It's all well and good to laugh at him and whatnot, but most of us couldn't do any better than he did and has done and we should think about how it must have felt to be on the cricket field at a moment like that. Think that this is probably his childhood dream - to play for Australia. Whether or not he's good enough, he tried and for whatever reason, he failed.

Must've been the loneliest place on earth at that time.

I've played a couple games where I got belted and I really do feel for him.

Yeah I agree with you there Liam. Looking over the scorecard though, why the hell did Ponting keep bowling him?? Lee was only into his 8th, Clarke had only bowled 7, and even Clark (who'd gone for 9 an over) had four left.

Fair enough. I`ve got nothing against him. He`s bowled superbly domestically and he was brilliant against New Zealand. But we lost a match where we made 400+ and I want a scapegoat. :D

I`ll happily change to Katich.

And Nady, Ponting must`ve had money on the Saffies. I`d go Clark over Lewis 9 times out of 10.
Yeah I would too. Hell, I'd go for Ponting over Lewis.

Absolutely. He was almost in tears.

As I said earlier in the thread too, I don't actually think his death bowling was that bad. He bowled some complete trash in his first 7 overs, but when he came back at the end he actually got a decent number of good yorkers in, but was faced with some unbelievable batting from Van Der Wath, and then bowled a very poor 10th over. You have to feel sorry for the guy.

Far too many half-volleys and full tosses got put away, he did not change his pace. Did not appear to be thinking about what he was doing. Yes ponting should not have bowled him , it is pretty clear to see that ponting screwed up his overs/per bowlers again.

Vanderwath loves the ball coming onto the bat so what does punter do, keep the pacemen on. It is no coincidence that bracken got 5 wickets, he bowled some very good slow cutters that the southies had to make their own pace off.

Thanks heaps Sean.

I could keep moaning for hours, but constructiveness is worth a go.

What is your combined team for the series? Mine`ll be up in a sec.

Nate

You'll Never Walk Alone
Gilchrist
Smith
Ponting
Gibbs
Symonds
Hussey
de Villiers
Pollock
Hogg
Bracken
Ntini

Batsmen orientated team... but it was a batsmen dominated series. Pollock, Ntini and Bracken were all superb. All the batsmen in there did nothing wrong. Looks like another 400+ score there. :D
