symonds out for 13

as i write a catch has been dropped..
Haha.

Gilchrist lucky there, Cricinfo seems to think it was fairly straight forward. It says he was dropped at point, so I assume he was trying that stupid little shot that he's always getting out to now, the attempted glide down to third man that ends up being caught in the slips or at point.

Edit: Sounds like he just got out to it, too. He really needs to stop playing that shot altogether.

Gilly played at a ball which was very wide of his body, he needs to stop poking at those shots.. Nel is all fired up today...

Welcome Shane!!

Prince was quite happy about the wicket, as he dropped it at point.. he was the first to congratulate Nel.. South africa have actually got back in the game now..

Symonds has simply got to go. With Gilly not what he used to be, well not as consistent anyway, having a liability like Symonds at 6 isn't smart. Yeah he scored 50 in the last test but when you have Clarke sitting back in the changings rooms doing nothing, its just stupid.

Agreed. Symonds has to go, has not done anything of note in his 8 matches and it can not be argued that he is in the team as an allrounder because Ponting refuses to give him a bowl in tests.

I agree.

Symonds is a great talent but an ave of under 20 in quite a few tests is not good enough, especially with Gilly out of form.

The difference in quality between Hussey and Symonds was really pronounced.

307 for 7 is a really good score on this wicket and worth a lot more.

IMO, unless the wicket improves (and everyone is suggesting it'll only get worse), 350 will be a winning total.

Quickest and easiest way to tell just how good a batsman is, see how he goes on a bowler friendly pitch. Runs scored on this pitch are alot more valuable in the eyes of the selectors, I would hope.

I wouldn't be suprised if Hussey picks up another century. His been playing well and if Warne can stick with him and he bats like he normally does with the tail he should get his 4th century.

Giving how the South African middle order is so brittle I would say your right but the pitches in Durban on days 2 and 3 do go extremely flat.

Yeah why not, Watson is not around and all Clarke will do is come in make a nice 35 then get himself out.

I for one didn't really think he should have been playing in the first test.

His earmarked the Bangladesh tour, as the place where he will get his test runs.
