Cummins is better right at the start by a bit but he's better at every other phase of the game by a lot. Made sense for Pattinson to open if he was going to play because he's going to have to bowl his overs at some point.

I missed him vs. the opening spell, but FMD as soon as I saw him against Cummins it was dodgy angled bat defence with hard hands, edges, and weird chip shots that made him look like he was going to do exactly what he did -- hit one to short cover.

Cummins also has far more variety and is therefore able to attack & defend depending on match situation
