what a ridiculous selection for MOM.....i mean you'd think they'd be smart enough to pick someone who scored runs against the conditions rather than someone who benefitted considerably in them.
laxman for me.....
:laugh: And I bet your response would have been same had they picked Laxman for MoM. KArthik was picked because he picked up the most important wickets in this test match. :)

coincidence? or does gilly always manage to score only 1 100,followed by a string of failures in the sub continent. despite his efforts in the first test, he still ended up with an average of 35.

err i already said that id have picked laxman as the MOM, so i dont see why my response would have been the same.
and as far as karthik is concerned, do you seriously believe that taking wickets on that wicket required skill? no disrespect to clarke, but the fact that a part timer got 6/9 suggests not.

Alim Dar donated this match to them by giving Hauritz out. Such a shame they needed a Pakistani to pull out even a meaningless dead-match win

congrats to team India, now they are No 2 again :D :p
what a farce, these sort off games played on sun baked cow dung shud be banned!

i hope when pakistan tour they practice on the main road outside these $hitty indian stadiums... coz the roads outside the stadiums resemble the wickets!

indian cricket team stoops 2 new low with a win by any means philosphy!

pathetic!

Well, one should never underestimate your ability to pick an argument. IMO you would have picked Murali Karthik had they awarded Laxman the MoM, just for the sake of argument. :) And yes it did require some skills to take wickets on that pitch, Look at Natahan Hauritz's figures and other spinners who bowled in the second innings. It also suggests that how under utilized Clarke was in this test match. :)

Anyways, I am not going to debate with you on this one, I have said all I wanted too.

i certainly dont argue something just for the sake of arguing. its fairly obvious to anyone that when a pitch helps bowlers as much as that, you give the best batsman the MOM.
as far as hauritz is concerned, personally i think hes absolute garbage, certainly i cant believe hes even come close to making the test side when its quite obvious that he isnt going to suceed in test match cricket.

NiKhilN, Wake up, your dream has come true :)

from_da_lost_di, Get_lost_in_da_di Just kidding man. Take it easy.

I personally think Aleem Dar is a great Umpire and I am not too happy with the pitch either but IMO Laxman and Sachin batted well in the second inning.

so what does every1 think of the series overall? i think we had 1 great match(the last one), one exceptionally poor one (nagpur), one potential classic (the second test) and one where australia outplayed india totally but not in the horribly insulting way they did in nagpur...

considering he did say how many runs they need to win this game, not how many runs they need to have a chance?
lets not forget the australia got 204 in the first innings, so the chances of of winning the game with 120 is extremely small indeed.
Care to say that again?!

Exactly. Pitches like this take the skill out of the game.

Actually, to a degree they do show the skill of batsmen.

Look at the higher run scorers in this game - not one of them is one of the smash-them merchants.

It has to be said - Hauritz's 2/87 in the second innings looks pretty dreadful in the context of this match.
No worse than Kumble's first innings effort though.

No the plan will be to have an All Black training session a day out from the 1st test at Eden Park.
ROFLMAO - great tactic!

Is that the equivalent of the heavy roller?
