A turning point?

Since his 141 against New Zealand at the 'Gabba which was 12 test matches ago he has only reached 40 three times (all in this series). His average after that 141 was 67.62, it is now 40.79. That is a drop of 27 runs in 12 test matches, not exactly setting the world on fire. Add to that some of his dismissals have been very, very bad shots.
Yes, but the fact that he's come up against a good bowling attack.

So has Hayden, Ponting, Martyn, Langer, Katich & Gilchrist. While we hear about the possiblity of Hayden, Katich & Martyn being dropped, we don't hear a whisper about Clarke. Hayden was getting starts and getting out, just like Clarke.

Stats, hmm. You can dismiss them when they concern Hayden, but when it comes to Clarke, its a different story.

Except that Clarke (before this test) had two 50s including a 91 while Hayden's highest score was 36. Clarke looked comfortable against swing and seam, while Hayden looked hopeless against it.

Clarke has been excellent in this series, he's been the most consistent Australain batsman behind Langer. Dropping him would be ridiculous, and nobody would even consider it.
