***Official*** Australia in England (The Ashes)

Tony Greig really annoying me with this "if the England seam bowlers can bowl well in these conditions imagine what McGraths gonna do". He's been doing it all series when England get over 400 the pitch must be so flat that Australia are going to score 600.

Anyway, the weather has been kind to Australia in that it will quite possibly force a result - unlike in the 3rd Test for England.

What is that supposed to mean ?
I think what was meant by that comment was that if Warne has to bowl with the conditions being very seam friendly then the pacemen have not done their job and we will be in a lot of trouble. We will see what Lee & Tait are made of this session.

It means these conditions are about as perfect for seam and swing bowling as you could hope for and a spinner shouldn't be getting anywhere near the ball unless something has gone wrong.

It was till 6 with an extra half an hour (for slow over rates)

The rain in the day gave us an extra half hour to use.
I'm afraid you are wrong there Marc, as i was yesterday when discussing it with my dad - there is an extra hour that can be used to 6.30pm from 5.30pm (for the purposes of calculating overs available) plus 30 minutes to 7.00pm if the overs don't get bowled.

Severe microscope on Kat, Pontings captaincy, Clarke.
Clarke!?? Third highest averaging Aussie this series, third highest Aussie run-scorer. In my opinion, this series could be a big turning point for him.

Yea he's one of quite a few commentators that frequently go the safe route and call the pitch and conditions (and the game to an extent) by the score rather than perceiving how well either side has bowled or batted.

Surely Tresco & Strauss should be blinking a bit more motioning to each other that they can't see the ball, prodding the pitch etc.

Warne is no wheelie bin mate, he can turn it on glass.

An extra hour in the day can be used to make up the overs lost in that same day. Only half an hour can be used to make up overs lost from any previous day.

Oh yeah, good call. It's wonderful to lose a day's play when you have to win the test.

Ah that explains it then, so that means yesterday half an hour was for Friday and half for yesterday right?

A turning point?

Since his 141 against New Zealand at the 'Gabba which was 12 test matches ago he has only reached 40 three times (all in this series). His average after that 141 was 67.62, it is now 40.79. That is a drop of 27 runs in 12 test matches, not exactly setting the world on fire. Add to that some of his dismissals have been very, very bad shots.
