***Official*** Australia in England (The Ashes)

Brilliant bowling by England. If they can keep this up they may get Australia out for under 400 (although saying that the last 4 wickets for Australia have usually put on more runs than the top order).

Conditions greatly in our favour, but England's morning I think.
Definitely - 4 wickets for 80 runs or so.

The light is improving rapidly, apparently - any chance of England winning this?

Warne's the worst appealer in this series, so you can dry up before you start, bread-stealing drongo. :p
But Warnie is in such a state of self-dellusion that he genuinely believes when he appeals that it is out.

Yeah. It's really hard for Australia now, Warne's going to have to bat well and support Clarke, because Australia can't get out too soon due to the light. Australia really have to pray that the sun comes out, because it's hard to see Australia winning if it doesn't. Australia aren't going to bat out the day and rack up a huge lead now, and they can't rip through England in helpful conditions this afternoon because as soon as England come out Vaughan will ask for the light.

Depends on when England get bowled out. If they're taken out late in the evening, Hoggard and Freddie could get into Hayden and Langer again in the evening and morning, and Australia would be three down. If they're taken out early on the fifth morning, Australia's chances actually increase (IMO), as it might be easier to bat (although Gilo might still have at trick up the old crown). Australia are still looking at 40-50 runs ahead at the very least, and par score for England in the second innings is 200, you'd think. Which leaves a very gettable 160.

Have a rest, Freddie. England are gonna need an 8-for and a ton...

odd first session i must say runs & wickets. Australia now may just get a 50 run lead then work from their i reckon. Flintoff word out the lad is superb all series he just hasn't bowled a bad spell, for me at the end of this match he & Warne should the man of the series award because in my view both have been equally has influential in where their teams are respectively in this series.

Why?

We've got the best paceman in world cricket and he is generally unplayable in conditions like this. Do you really think any Englishman would look forward to batting in these conditions.

Aus is close to Eng's total, the light has improved, the ball is moving all over the place and Eng will have longer to bat.

I actually think that it's to Aus' advantage to keep playing shots and eventually get bowled out. That takes all questions over declaration timing out of it.
