96 runs @ 16 against India in 03/04 is worse, especially given all the pitches were dead flat in that series. This is probably the worst aside from that though.Demolition Man said:Gillys worst ever series ???

Improbable, Vaughan has already signalled his intent for the draw.Scaly piscine said:So it's impossible that Australia might get bowled out chasing 150 then is it? Perfectly feasible they could be chasing more than that as well.
Except England aren't going to have to bat in conditions like this, because they'll just take the light.social said:Why?
We've got the best paceman in world cricket and he is generally unplayable in conditions like this. Do you really think any Englishman would look forward to batting in these conditions.
Aus is close to Eng's total, the light has improved, the ball is moving all over the place and Eng will have longer to bat.
I actually think that it's to Aus' advantage to keep playing shots and eventually get bowled out. That takes all questions over declaration timing out of it.
Gilchrist batted bloody well.Demolition Man said:Jeez Gilchrist looks very out of touch. Very poor effort by him in this series.
Fortunately the light has improved to the point where commentators are saying that it wouldnt be offered any longer.FaaipDeOiad said:Except England aren't going to have to bat in conditions like this, because they'll just take the light.
If McGrath could bowl at England now I'd back him to tear them apart, frankly. If Australia make another 50 and then get out and play for the day finishes then, Australia would need an absolute miracle and to bowl England out in about 50 overs in order to win from there.
but the big difference from that India series is that a lot of times their he shrew it away with wild strokes, he has got many good deliveries this summer.FaaipDeOiad said:96 runs @ 16 against India in 03/04 is worse, especially given all the pitches were dead flat in that series. Very out of touch in the manner in which he has been consistenly dismisssed in this series. Very unlike gilchrist to miss a ball on the pads, regardless of swing or cut.social said:Gilchrist batted bloody well.
The ball was doing a hell of a lot in gloomy conditions and he middled most balls.
Contrast his effort to every other player this morning.
Yeah, probably very unlikely, but I don't know exactly what's going on in Vaughan's head. If they were in to bat in the first hour of the next session - that's still four and a half sessions to play, and it could be interesting with things fairly even steven score wise. Not that I think England would give Australia a sniff, but they could possibly build enough to have maybe three hours at us.Demolition Man said:ummm no.
Why on earth not?Demolition Man said:ummm no.

I know it's unlikely, but England have time and time again this year shown the Australia's batsmen are not that great when it comes to playing quality swing bowling.
for Australia's sake i hope Vaughan takes him off, i dont feel comfortable when he's bowling.....Demolition Man said:Will flintoff given the ball after lunch ? If so how many overs will get be given ?
By setting two slips and a gully for Harmison? Defensive cricket all rightDemolition Man said:Improbable, Vaughan has already signalled his intent for the draw.
That's to Ponting's advantage more than to Australia's. Not that I disagree that playing our shots was the right way to go. But not having any kind of lead is a very big deal, 'cause it means that the time England spends at the crease all counts for extra time we'll need, which is much inferior to a situation where they have to bat out almost the whole day, just to make sure we can't get in and chase a meagre total after they wipe off the deficit.social said:Why?

That's wrong, I think - today's play started at 10:30 English time, it would have started 11 but for the rain yesterday.Entrael said:Just out of curiosity, i saw someone mention that in england if play is lost due to rain, then the next days play doesnt start earlier? if so why? pretty sure in australia is a fair amount of play is lost then they usually start play earlier then normal
mate calm down...Nuffy said:Yet again the Aust middle order as failed. Its a shame that the hard work of Langer and Hayden has been ****ed away in 2 hours.
If today hasn't ended Martyns career then it must be close, hes on notice, yet again hes failed when he needed to score runs, hes become Mark Waugh. His place will be series by series, he'll need to make lots of runs all the time to keep his place.
Gilly............WTF has happened to this bloke, hes falling apart, we needed 50 from him today and yet again hes out cheaply. He'll need to score heavily in the Australian summer or I'd say hes gone.
Kat.................this was his time to make some quality runs and he didn't, he doesn't deserve a lot of mercy at this point.
Aust needs to find another 100-120 runs to make this interesting. Its just a crying shame they crumbled this morning, 4-350 is a platform, 6 for 350 is teetering.
