Steds, being a leaguie, do yourself a favour and watch Andrew Johns whilst he's in the UK for 3 matches (Warrington I think)

As Rod Macqueen (Wallaby WC winning coach) said, "He's Johnny Wilkinson, but a better kicker, passer, runner and tackler."

Guy's a ratbag but absolute genius.

He's Shane Warne in footie boots but more poorly behaved.
3 games plus the playoffs. And I probably will venture down there sometime, only around the corner from where I play cricket. On the topic of Johns, nice little comment on Boots'n'All last night.

presenter Eddy Hemmings: What about Andrew Johns debut? What are you looking forwards to there?

Hull full back Shaun Briscoe: Hopefully him getting injured

:D

Btw, Does he txt as much as Warne?

I like your style, Sean - and thanks again for swapping with me.
Thanks, and it's no trouble. I've seen just about every minute of this series anyway (as you can tell by my ridiculous number of posts in this thread), so it doesn't matter too much which days I write about.

You've managed to bring up four figures on your own, Sean!

Yeah, noticed that at the start of the night, I think I checked after making a post and I'd just hit 1,000. I think marc has almost 2,000 in the Another Game thread though, so it's not a record. :p

edit: By the way, is Craig really from NZ? I thought he was a Queenslander.

You're Norwayan and you've got 5,000 posts on a cricket forum. I would have thought that should have been sufficient to raise initial concerns...

what are peoples opinions on collignwood?

i like him as a person and his fielding is exceptional but he just didn't look the part as an international player.it might just be a survere case of nerves but his technique looked at a bit broken to me,his short backlift and the way his bat is slightly mis-alligned from his pad a lot of the time.

it was a great ball that got him out but he never looked at ease through his 26 ball innings,i didn't see anything that would change his reputation as a one-day specialist.

what was vaughan doing????

richie benaud said he was in good (i only saw the dissmissal) so to get out in that fashion points at a lack in concentration from him in my book.

bell looks all at sea atm,he is a class player but playing in a series of this importance after only 3 tests is a big ask.

strauss and flintoff were terrific but england aren't going to be able to post big scores without no.3,4,5 scoring big runs consistently.

I love him, but he shouldn't be playing this match. I'd feel alot safer with another bowler

On the Collingwood dismissal:

This is actually more of a general problem I have with LBW's. The word is that Collingwood was incorrectly judged LBW because the ball hit him outside off. However, this is only relevant if you're attempting a shot. Colly hid his bat behind his front leg, so imho he wasn't playing a shot. In general, you'll see people given not out in these circumstances so in that sense his dismissal was unfortunate), however I feel it was a correct decision by Koertzen (otoh, that Strauss edge was just beyond silly). What's your opinion?

No, a live stream of the Channel 4 coverage on my computer (through Willow TV). Without the horse racing (yeah) and while at the office (hell yeah).

Hopefully I'll be able to put in equally solid viewing sessions over the weekend :p

Not to mention that I'll be skipping work on Monday, if required :p

I'd strongly counsel against underestimating the value of runs on the board. Your comment is eerily reminiscent of the last three Tests where, even though England scored 400+, people were saying that Australia were somehow ahead, as the pitch was an 'absolute belter'. People talk about scoring 500 as though it's a stroll in the park. Fact is that it seldom happens. I think any team that bats first and scores 350+ in a pressure match, is not doing too badly. The last three Tests bear that point out.
their is a big difference now their is no JONES.....

Looking at the amount of reverse that Tait got, and the inital seam and bounce that McGrath got...Harmison / Flintoff / Hoggard might be enough to do it.
