Big call from a west aussie, but i have to second that.... All those lee doubters, surely will be put in their place by his gutsy performance today. I have no doubt if it was shane watson who was batting today and got wrapped on the hands he would have retired hurt
Massive call. Every now and then I come out with one of those...

Wow.. what an awesome comeback from australia.. just saw it now.. 2 runs! jesus christ.. i dont think any lower order at this present time could show more determination than that in a test match..

who would have thought that the england number 11 would have more runs than the england number 3 after 2 test matches....

The Vaughan ball was hardly brilliant - Vaughan has a habit of making fairly innocuous deliveries look brilliant though. He wasn't back or forward and how he managed to miss that I do not know. I'll give you the Jones dismissal - that was a very good ball.
I wasn't watching that part of the game so didn't comment on it.

So Jones was fined 20% of his match fee for the Hayden send off, fair enough, but where's the fine for the umpire badgering from the Aussies?
Or Warne's day 1 tantrum?

IMO the real issue is why are players being fined for send-offs? Dissent for umpires I can understand but for Christ's sake it makes the game much more interesting, entertaining to watch and fires up the game. We don't need robotic behaviour.

Good lord. Warnie, you klutz.

Can't believe he did that. Oh well, England will be breathing a lot easier now.
And does any else think he said "my foot slipped" as he was walking back?! ;)

What an absolutely disgraceful performance from England's bowlers to just assume that the match was in the bag and almost throw it away in doing so. Rather than celebrating they should be ashamed of themselves and have a good hard look at why the match got so close.
just shows you have very little understanding of the game really. England were playing aggressive cricket vs aggressive, nothing to lose batting. Warne and Lee were outstanding vs some very hostile bowling (so was Kasper). As the score gets closer to the target, nerves obviously set in, it would happen with any bowler in the world.

Apart from the odd legside ball, England bowled good aggressive stuff, and in the end it was that style of bowling that got them the two wickets.

The real reason why the game got so close is because Australia is a real battling team, and those three last batsmen are no exceptions.

Typical English response on this forum though..see the negative.

Both teams should be commended for todays play as they both went for it with vigour...England won the test match..what on this planet are you complaining about

Whats worse, friends who I didnt know watched much cricket have been calling up to discuss "what an exciting game it was" :@ :@ I am the only one who was engrossed in Kaif, Yuvraj and company manhandling Deonarain rather than watch one of the closest test finishes in the last twenty years-actually of all time.

Grrrrrrhhhhh !!

I think the problem is that if you were to allow some, then you might be opening a bit of a Pandora's box. Yes, there are different levels in the hostility of send-offs, but if you rule against one and not another, then the other person has reason to be aggrieved. I think it's easier from an adjudicators' point of view to stamp it out completely, because the potential is there for them to get very ugly.
