***Official*** Australia in England (The Ashes)

Anyone else been suprised at how much Australia have been ruffled by Englands short pitch bowling. I put the 1st test down to an uneven pitch but even on a flat track they've looked shaky really shaky aginst Englands quickies taking a lot of blows on the body etc. I also think this has contributed to a lot of the rash shots they have played.

You think Australia playing on their hard fast home wickets would be a lot better than what they have shown.

Indeed and it was also won by tailenders in a team whose official colour is blue. England's is as well so it was obvious they were going to win. I was never in doubt.

:D
But who dropped the catch for the bulls which would have won the the match, the keeper..... I was wishing much the same fate for the english whilst that ball was in the air, and alos u've got a pretty good chance when geriant is keeping.....

Extra! Extra!

Latest reports are that there was a break-in last night at Melbourne Museum, and someone's tampered with the Phar Lap exhibit.

In other news, Brett Lee was rushed in for a heart transplant last night...

He looks extremely fast when u see him in real life.... Much faster than harmison
well i'll see, but has i said before i think if he plays at Old Trafford he could well and be effective because England haven't seen him before plus with his unusual action he could well & be handful on debut. Edwards & Malinga two other bowlers in world cricket who have similar slingy actions both causes their respective oppositions trouble on their debuts so their is no reason why Tait can for me.....

Uneven bounce, and low bounce.... Thats what i put it down to. Also england have struggled with the short pitched bowling although not to the same degree as the aussies

Uneven bounce at Lords accounted for a couple.

Here, Langer got hit by a couple of goodies from Harmison, and none of the other batsmen seemed to have any real trouble with the short ball - except tail enders. And Lee's never liked it up around his head, then again what bottom order batsman does?

Big call from a west aussie, but i have to second that.... All those lee doubters, surely will be put in their place by his gutsy performance today. I have no doubt if it was shane watson who was batting today and got wrapped on the hands he would have retired hurt

Lee played the short balls well today. Body behind the ball and soft hands

He didn't play them well at all, generally. Either stepping away and poking the bat at them a bit, or getting hit and not keeping his eye on them. But he was prepared to cop them on the body time after time, and if that can't earn someone's respect then I don't know what can.

I just can`t believe we lost it. I mean, we shouldn`t have even won it, but then we should of... I don`t know. I`m just sick of never being on the winning side of these things!

Huge comeback by Lee after his disastrous 1st innings with bat and ball. Sooooo close yet soooo far for the Aussies, I thought at 10 runs left that they would pull it off. Good catch by G. Jones though.

Interesting dichotomy here, actually. Jones, whom everyone has been bagging for his 'keeping, took a great catch to win England the match. Wade Seccombe who was regarded as possibly a better 'keeper than Healy, put down that chance..............

What an absolutely disgraceful performance from England's bowlers to just assume that the match was in the bag and almost throw it away in doing so. Rather than celebrating they should be ashamed of themselves and have a good hard look at why the match got so close.

Lee got a good ball in the first innings. However Warne gave his wicket away in both innings...... :@

yeah, i agree. each tailender shouldn't have been allowed to get passed 10. they're happy now, and they have a right to do so, but they shouldn't have let the aussies get so close
