So India lost by 60 runs on purpose so that they just got the bonus point?

Don't think so!

That is every much as big a margin as the SL was.
You're joking right? They were always going to lose, thus why they batted so slowly. Whether its in the spirit of the game or not, they played for the bonus point when the game was out of their hands. That was always their intention, and even the Pakistanis knew that.

Well, I think it's appropriate to ask for a little help here, sorry if this should have been in another thread. I guess it's okay, though...

Let me give you some background.
I'm playing this fantasy cricket game called Superselector (similar to any fantasy sports game you find on the internet). I have to choose a team of 6+1+4, within a certain budget. I am currently ranked 5th overall in India.

The thing is, I have to choose between one of Dravid, Saurav, Yuvraj, Laxman, Jayasuriya, Atapattu and Jayawardene for my team for the final. More runs scored (or wickets taken) by the player, more points for me. I'd like your suggestions please. This is really crucial for the balance of my team.

I'm thinking Dravid or maybe Marvan. Either of them will perform. Judging by the law of averages, Sanath is bound to fail (hopefully), unless his name is VVS Laxman. Or maybe Saurav?

It's all too confusing :(

Thank You! :)

IMO id say go with sourav. No its not because im his biggest fan but coz well he has been getting runs through out this tournament and something tells me he will score big in the final....its just a feeling.

but if he fails, don't chase me with a stick!

arjwiz go Dravid or Marvan. I think Jayasuriya had his knock of the tournament in the last game, and I have a feeling something is in Marvan's tank. You can't really ever count out Dravid. However Ganguly would be a good choice too. In your position I would choose Dravid, but its tough. Any of those picks (bar Laxman since hes injured) could pay off.

Hm, i think it will be an Indian since India will win on Sunday ....
It is painfull for the Pakistanis that they beat India but they won the tournament...
In my eyes India has now an unlimited boost and will win the game...
If they win the toss its secure that they win but if they loose the toss it could be close...even though the Sri Lankan batting line up will be struggling ....

In my eyes it will be Irfan Pathan who gets the Man of the Series award...
And i have some feeling that Wasim Akram has trained him :@
He said after ending his career that he will train every youngster bowler in the world so that it will give some more Legends of bowlers...
Thats nice but it is very very very sad for the Pakistanis if they see an indian bowler who bowl them next to next out...
You must look at Irfan ....His mouth after a good delivery is alike Wasim Akram did...This could also be a proof that he was a long time with Wasim Akram...
Im now already very upset on Wasim Akram even though i dont now the thruth...

Cry me a river. If your own egomaniacal fast-bowlers took even half of Akram's advice to heart, they would be up there with Irfan as well.

Javed Miandad has come out strongly against Bob Woolmer's slamming of the bonus-point system in the Asia Cup. "There is no point in crying hoarse over the bonus-point system," Miandad said while speaking to a private news channel in Kolkata.

Since all teams were informed of the rules and regulations prior to the tournament, Miandad felt that Pakistan should have played according to the situation. "Atleast the people who are sitting in the dressing room should have intimated the players and made them aware of the situation," and added, "Rules like bonus points have their pros and cons."

About India's climactic victory over Sri Lanka, he zeroed in on two moments that made the difference. "First, Jayasuriya's dismissal at a very crucial juncture and secondly, Irfan Pathan's 49th over which was very economical."

Miandad also likened Sourav Ganguly's captaincy to Imran Khan's and said, "Sourav is a lucky captain like Imran Khan. During Imran's time, we had ended up on the winning side on number of occasions despite a number of tactical and on-field mistakes."

When asked about the chances of him accepting a coaching role in India, like a batting consultant for the NCA, he was candid in his response. "I am free now and is open to any such offer. In fact this is way to develop the mutual camaraderie between the two nations. [Intikhab] Alam's taking up the job of Punjab Ranji team coach is a very happy sight."
