I reckon its Vaughan who looks more attacking. As for exciting openers..i'd have to pick Sehwag, Gilchrist & Jayasuriya.

And then on a lower level..Astle, Gibbs & Ganguly.
Trecothick's career record in ODIs sees him average 38 @ SR of 89.

So far in 2002 the list of SRs looks a little something like this: (Qual = 20 matches)

Afridi
Sehwag
Trescothick
Agarkar (!)
Pollock
Yuvraj
Jayasuriya
Wasim
Gilchrist
Klusener

Some 'Usual Suspects' there. Gibbs' career SR is 81. Impressive but well down on Tres. Ganguly's is 74, Astle's is 72. Not particularly scary. Jayasuriya and Gilchrist have 89, so very similar. Only Sehwag at 100+ stands out above the others, with Trescothick in amongst a group for 2nd.

Gayle's career SR is 80. His strike rate since Sharjah earlier this year is 89 and he's scored 1100 runs since at just under 50 per innings. He also has 3 of his 4 hundreds this year. I'd call that a good effort wouldn't you?

I've watched Trescothick during the Tests and the highlights of the ODIs (Which they've decided not to show for the VB Series...Thanks a bunch Ch4), and even when he only gets 20 odd he still looks in terrific form. Not only is he becoming very consistant now, but also the way he plays, makes him one of my favorite ODI batsmen. Also the fact that even though he's caught in the covers cutting a lot...the power he hits the shot usually means it's gotta be a damn good catch. Simon Hughes once wrote that getting Ian Botham out usually involved a lot of pain and a damn good catch...quite often its the same with Trescothick...:D

I don't blame them - expect they were asked for way too much money.

Similer average, similer style, similer attitude, comes from the same county, hits the ball as hard...

I think MacGill was stiffed by the ACB when dropped after the Home series v WI, especially after taking 7 wickets at the SCG in the last Test!!!!

I think his Test figures are better than Warne's at the same stage aren't they - his downfall being that while he may be a bigger turner of the ball, he is not as accurate as Warne & does give up boundary balls more regularly....

Come on it's not like he's Ian Salisbury or anything - MacGill is class and is unfortunate to have played in the same generation as Warney and a great Australian side.
