Cricketer Of The Year
England Team for 2nd Test

1.Marcus Trescothick
2.Michael Vaughan
3.Mark Butcher
4.Nasser Hussain (captain)
5.Robert Key
6.Alec Stewart
7.Craig White
8.Richard Dawson
9.Andrew Caddick
10.Matthew Hoggard
11.Stephen Harmison
12.Alex Tudor (12th man).

From the first Orange Test in Brisbane, which Australia won by 384 runs, right-hand batsman Robert Key replaces the injured John Crawley, right-arm off-spinner Richard Dawson replaces the injured Ashley Giles, and right-arm quick Stephen Harmison replaces the injured Simon Jones.

To me it looks a much weaker line-up, the Bowling looks very very weak....

I think your judging the team way to quickly.

JC / Rob Key - Both batsman haven't done anything wrong in the tour so far, Key has scored alot of runs in the few matches he has played, and currently leads the avg (from playing 3 less inngs).

IMO it's a pretty stright forward swap that shouldn't effect the team.

Dawson / Giles - Giles did well in the 1st test and was unlucky in the way he was ruled out, however Dawson hasn't really done anything wrong in his Test apperances to date and has the big advantage of the Aussie's not having a clue about him and he has probly the best ground to bowl spin on in Australia.

Jones / Harmison - Again Jones looked in good touch until that very bad injury and Harmision is pretty much like for like, he is still quick and hits the deck hard and gets the ball to lift on the batsman, everyone remembers his 1st game out here when he bowled 7 wides, however that doesn't really count as the guy had just nearly knocked himself out...

Overall the team will miss the guys that have dropped out and like Nasser said the shows must go on and those that have been called upon and the others must lift their game, the replacments are still quality players (they wouldn't be out there if they weren't)

I agree that Key will fill crawleys shoes ok, but i think the bowling looks much weaker.. Dawson for me didn't threaten any of the Aussie 'A' batsman and with the Adelaide wicket going to be as flat as highway, there will be less for him, and Harmison personally i think he needs more time, he doesn't seem to be comfortable over here, he is to excited about bowling short...

Good luck though...

Why do they want to keep White? Tudor is a much better bowler than White and is a decent bat to boot. White is at best a glorified "all-rounder". The batsmen in Tresc, Vaughan, Butcher, Hussain, Key & Stewart look good, it is the bowling which has to be beefed up.

Personally I would have perfered to have seen Sliverwood in there.

As for Harmison bowling short, it's not his fault that Nasser tells him to bowl there... It a tactic that might work once, but not requally..I given up the amount of times that I have watched/listened to the cricket and the comm' team keep saying we bowl to short...however in Nasser's dairy for a national paper he said during the birth of his child he watched the Eng v Aus A game and said the comm' team spoke alot of sense about alot of things (inculding the way we bowled), lets hope he takes it on board...

It was said that M.V had a problem with his knee before the start of the match, which nearly ruled him out, iam just intrested in who whould have played had he not been fit in time, afterall Rob Key is the only batting cover we bought with us...

Robert Key getting a game for the injured John crawley. Steve Harmison gets a run ahead of Tudor - maybe a good thing.

England starting ok......

It was said in the other thread that we would continue with that one rather than keep starting a new thread each time/test...

Oh and BB Code doesn't work in titles

Vaughan should have been gone....

That was clearly a catch, and IMO there was no doubt that he was out!!!!!

I hate that rule, that was clearly out for mine. I hope Vaughan rwalises that Aussie crowds arent very forgiving for incidents like that, and he will cop it for the rest of the summer.

I agree from what I have heard, but England deserve some luck.. even the aussie commentator said that :)

GB just remember what comes around goes around, Iam 100% you (Australia) will get a decsion go your way soon enough.

(but your just bitter that Vaughan hit a massive 6 just before :P :D )

Gezz the England players don't need to get a doggy decsion to go their way for you lot to hate us, we just need to turn up.

Now another ridiculous call, Andy Bichel should be ashamed of himself for even trying to claim that catch...
That is why we get these stupid video decisions and Batsman never walk.. He should be dropped for unsportsmanlike behaviour...

I guess you can understand why he thought he caught it. I t was smashed and he kind of had his head turned and he wasnt watching the ball into his hand.

England doing pretty good at the moment.... 88/0 at run rate of 4.16 with Vaughan on 52.

Oops, Trescothick gets bowled by McGrath...
