He averages 30 in FC matches and Tests. Why he's being compared to an actual part-timer who averages over 40 is beyond me.

In some ways I think our chances would be better on another similar wicket where all batsman struggle. On a conventional turner India are so superior we'd probably cop a hiding.

Yap, that's normal isn't it? Same as SENA teams struggling against spin.
yep. only ways it changes is with A tours. india A tour here a lot and back in the 10s we sent a lot of A sides to india. i think the relative improvement of both nations in hostile conditions can be attributed to the A programme.

I think in some of those matches, the coin toss plays an outsized role. I would like India’s chances better on a pitch like this.

Modern Australian pitches simply don't deteriorate as they use to, they just set like giants blocks of concrete in the heat.
That's probably because they're over-rolled and don't have enough moisture at the start to allow sufficient loss for cracks to open up etc. Massively over-prepared, dry concrete-like surfaces through all five days. Less rolling and a bit more moisture at the start (regardless of grass length) would see more wear.

Shouldve just rung up the Gabba curator instead.
What a great test that was. Went deep into the fifth day.

Top example to use for a bad pitch argument, that one. The mental equivalent of like being mauled by a dead sheep, this. Someone come and save me. Please.

I think you tuned in just after tea day five for that test from memory.

Yeah “this pitch is ****”= discrediting Asian teams. Hot takes all over the place here this evening
It's quite clear, we don't see these kind of complaints when teams lose 15-20 wickets in SENA or when the matches get over in 3-days. Why complain about Asian pitches then? SENA wickets can be really favourable for pacers and it's OK, but that can't be the case for spinners in Asia.

The reasons why the wicket was terrible have been done to death. It’s as plain as the nose on your face. Read back over the thread ffs

the Old indian victim complex coming out and saying you don’t hear the same when matches last three days elsewhere is bullshit. You hear it all the time when green tops get thrown up. Fmd that deck in Hobart a few years ago copped heaps, as an example.
An actual difference between a pitch which is crazy green first up and one which looks like footage from Mars on the first morning is the former is capable of hardening and getting easier for batting in the event a side bats long enough, through mostly good luck. That deck in the third test was not capable of getting easier or becoming an even contest between bat and ball. They are both poor wickets.

It was a poor wicket. The second test wasn’t. If a side can make 350 or so then it can’t be that bad. The third test deck was woeful.
