**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

SkyBlue

U19 Debutant
Listening to Sam speak, I think the kid has a real personality. For sure, he's going to go for big bucks in the IPL sooner or later but I just hope the money and fame doesn't get to him. Just keep your feet on the ground and he's gonna go a long way imo.

You’re crazy if you think that a 19yo monumentally talented kid won’t be able to work out how to play spin EVENTUALLY

What he did today is in no way normal

I was at the ground when Shastri scored a double ton against Warne on debut

People focused too much on Warne’s figures (about 1/150 IIRC) and not enough on the fact that he bowled about 25 unplayable balls that day
Kid can hit a ball but I don't think it's crazy to suggest a guy who isn't regularly exposed to quality spin bowling and spinning conditions, and will play a lot of short form cricket where he'll tend to wack it will have a battle on his hands to work out how to play world class slow bowling

The ICC jellyfish strike again with their lack of spine.

My goodness we are the opposite of blessed to have that incompetent group of boobs in charge of our game

Am I right in saying this Australian side doesn't have a single player in it in their 20s? Apologies if I've missed this mentioned..surely close to a record (since the 1800s when they were all basically 40+). And biggest age difference between youngest and 2nd youngest (which I'd guess is Marnus)

I think Grace played to a late age but you'd think they'd mostly be young back then since they were usually dead around their forties. Aus now has set a record for age or close to it, but I'm not so concerned about the transition when it has to take place. If Green can get and stay fit we'll have him, Sam and McSweeney with Marnus, Travis and Smith as a potential batting line up - which is a good mix of ages.

We have spinners like Kuhnemann, Murphy, Tanveer coming up for Lyon. Others like Swepson, Manenti and Rocchiccioli from WA. Even Zampa wants to play tests. And they're all reasonable bowlers. None are Doherty bad.

Strangely enough we don't have durable young to youngish quicks coming through. It'd be great if Richardson, Spencer Johnson and Lance Morris could be relied on for fitness. However I'm not too worried as I'm most confident in Australia producing a fast bowler more readily than batsmen or spinners.

As for the shoulder charge, its just embarrassing for a player of Kohli's stature to be unsettled by a debutant. Surely he has the experience to understand Konstas can't hope to play like that and succeed long term? Just ride it out and trust your bowlers to work out how to respond to Sam's ambush. Kohli's certainly a buccaneer but age forces you to change. I'll always like his fight and incredible batting, but this incident showed that he's not aging well.

Kohli has never been a poster child for good behaviour on the field

It’s who he Is & has nothing to do with age
