Bumrah's action is hideous. Effective obviously but hideous
Well, of course. I am talking about my subjective watchability. It's like the proliferation of the three-point shot in the NBA—clearly, it helps you win. It's probably just less fun for me. This type of batting is why I don't watch IPL, but millions do. But if batting like this continues, bowling will adjust (as India already did a bit), and that's just not a type of cricket for me. But of course, I will grant you that watchability, objectively, in terms of viewership, may actually increase with this. Why is the product becoming unwatchable though? I don't see why it has to follow a certain style/pace all the time. If teams like to play the "old school" way, go for it. If they want to Bazball it, more power to them. Whatever helps you win, as GIMH said.
Agreed.Whatever else you think he has imposed himself on the Indians and disrupted their plans. And I'm not sure India have responded all that well.
Oh grow up. 95% of test matches are still "proper" test matches.
Putting aside what I think of it (which is clearly meaningless and inconsequential) why am I being gaslit that test cricket hasn’t changedIt's important to note this is one player...but if this is the future, lawn bowls has a new enthusiast.
The main solace we get is that a whole generation of Indian kids will be wrecking their backs and shoulders trying to imitate it.Bumrah's action is hideous. Effective obviously but hideous
This is honestly a pathetic mentality. Are most Indian fans effemenite cowards? Nothing to be proud of, talking like thiswe're ****ing screwed. 3-1, Konstas is gonna reverse ramp scoop his way to consecutive centuries.
Batting strike rates have increased significantly over the past 2 years. It’s definitely changed.Putting aside what I think of it (which is clearly meaningless and inconsequential) why am I being gaslit that test cricket hasn’t changed
Fine leg is really fine too. As far as a tactical decision goes, getting Rohit to put two men out for that shot is a massive winThat’s such bad captaincy putting a third man in.
I think us old men are afraid that this approach may actually work.We have a 19 yo kid on debut taking a gamble against the best bowler in the world and people are complaining that it’s ruining cricket smh. You may not agree with the approach, which is valid, but thinking it’s spoiling the sport is ridiculous.
You're absolutely right. It's one player. It's more than a gamble, however. Am I right in saying Joe Root has removed it from his game until much much later in his innings if at allWe have a 19 yo kid on debut taking a gamble against the best bowler in the world and people are complaining that it’s ruining cricket smh. You may not agree with the approach, which is valid, but thinking it’s spoiling the sport is ridiculous.
Like Chanderpaul batting, looks weird and wrong and you couldn't copy it but it works well for him.Bumrah's action is hideous. Effective obviously but hideous
