So Australia needs to take last wkt in 1st over tomorrow for a 190 lead, bat 25 overs to get lead to 300, then bowl India out in 60 overs....should be an exciting day (except for rain)
I wouldn't want to set India a target when you only have three bowlers.

In any case, that except is a big except.

Whatever it takes!!!
Very satisfying to see the team fight. Its one thing to be outmatched or outclassed esp. away from home in unfamiliar conditions for a team in transition with most of the younger players playing first time here, proper. Its another to have been as abject as we had been in Adelaide and here on Day 2 and 3. The hallmark of Virat's India was always the fact that they kept fighting back from any and all adversities. Its good to see some of that in this side as well.

Obviously, there is still a very real possibility of a loss here and we are nowhere near safe but at least its at a better position than we were when it was 70/5.

Hopefully we select better for MCG and SCG and can actually give them a run for their money and maybe even win 1 or 2.

Hi HB,

This post is wrong and misguided and you're foolish for thinking this. There's no chance of a loss and you better listen to me or I'll ruin the thread.

I actually suggested better selections for India 30 pages ago, so I'm glad you agree with me.

Lol if anyone said 1-1 going into Melbourne and Sydney a month ago . Aus seem to love letting us off the hook towards the tailends of series, be it by incessantly bowling short filth or through dubious selections.

I'm on the outside looking on but I always felt this was a massive day for India, with potentially a few things unravelling if it had all gone wrong. But things like this last wicket stand can do wonders for a touring team who are up against it.

It's not clear to me how much India's problems are due to selection or squad spirit or leadership (or any combination thereof).

I think what is giving this series so much drama is the presence of a number of fantastic (if often ageing) players in two pretty fragile teams.

In hindsight, not enforcing the follow on may actually be a good thing for Aus. There is a very little chance of getting 10 wickets with 3 fit bowlers on a day which is likely to be on and off due to rain. Only certain out come is Starc and Cummins adding more miles to their legs. This is obviously a test Aus should have won in normal circumstances though

It’s genuinely tragic seeing an international team giving themselves a standing O when they’re 195 behind with one in hand. Fellas, time for a little introspection, especially the batsmen
Idiotically, they were the ones celebrating, the most out of form ones in the line-up.

Bumrah basically did this...

is India still a superior team?

Until NZ bent them over I thought they would win this series, but they were so bad I thought Aus would get them, and that mat well still happen tbf. Both teams’ batting is loads weaker than their bowling, which keeps it even

Tbf were it not for the rain here Aus would be miles in front. We’d be looking at about 2 full days to go with all but a 200 run first innings lead, even with only two fit quicks

I think the one bowler down is a bigger issue than rain/time given you are only playing with 4 bowlers to begin with. But I remember RSA beat you guys in Aus with 3 bowlers once. Soz. 🤷‍♂️

I think the two sides are more or less the same now. I thought India were better at the beginning and far better after Perth and back to slightly better after Adelaide. Whoever wins at Melbourne will be slightly better and if the same winner wins at Sydney they'll reach the far better status

You get the pattern

A more interesting question would be, is there a better cricket team than these two sides in the world atm. I'm not sure
