**Official** 3rd Test @Brisbane (Ewwwww), 14th-18th December

I would take getting bowled out for 200-220 and have Australia bowl again with a view to the next test. Batting isn't that hard as it looks.

Best case scenario for India if you ask me.

Get where you're coming from but with so much uncertainty about the weather on this occasion Aus should enforce the follow on if they get the chance.
Also the bowlers should be relatively fresh given all the breaks.

As expected it's dramatically easier once the ball gets older which makes the way India's top order batted yesterday even more bizarre.
I think we need to clarify it was odd in terms of execution for most rather than intent. Gill got a half volley with width, jaiswal got an overpitched ball on his pads. Even if your batting for a draw you should be looking to get a single off both of those balls in a Test match.

Kohli's shot was proper daft, though. Ball was way too wide, far wider than gills. You should never play those.

Cant think of any in the last 30 years at least.

There was this one time we got hammered 4-0 under Dhoni by both England and Australia post 2011 WC heroics but I'm not sure if we lost 5 in a row.
Interestingly 5 consecutive losses under the same captain have happened only once before for India, and it was under Sachin lol. Lost 3-0 to Aus in Aus then 2-0 to SA in India. Then lost the captaincy thereafter.

Not even Pautadi has lost consecutively 5 times, as India had a 7 game losing streak in their back to back overseas tours or Aus and Eng in the 60s, but Pataudi missed out in the first game in Aus.

Still think Jadeja will draw this out. He's undroppable now surely for the remaining tests as he looks one of their best batters so has to play at least as a batter. One of the best test all rounders of all time.

Hell be played as a batter. One of Kohli or Rohit has to make way. End of an era. Tough call for selectors for Melbourne. Rohit is really out of sorts. Kohli has a ton this series. Both careers look done to me and most respected analysts.

Gill, jaiswal and others like Rahul undroppable. Pant is the keeper. They're much younger and in their prime. Bumrah as captain which worked well for the first test.

Also why do Aussies keep persisting with marsh as the all rounder that doesn't bowl? Better to pick Webster as the all rounder or Inglis to strengthen the batting for mcg, with boland back the bowling is sufficient IMHO

Jadeja can't be dropped going forward. He can play as a batter alone.
A more courageous management would sit out Rohit for the rest of the series and play Jadeja as a specialist batsman with Ashwin coming in as the extra spinner.

But Gambhir appears to be too big of a ***** to disrupt his equation with the senior players.

You are playing for a WTC final spot and you have a captain that averages like 10 in the last 5-6 tests. These are not signs of a championship winning team.

Why is Gill undroppable? He's played 30 tests and averages mid-30s. He'd have to go before either Kohli or Sharma if you factor in credit in the bank for all three.
