That says more about you than anything making a bizarre statement like that. Salt and vinegar to go with the chip on your shoulder?
Haha I was just trying to figure out a reason why an Englishman would complain about another country being rich and having better resources because they outperformed them.

NZ and Australia still outperform the mean on a weighted per capita GDP basis, so not purely about the economics. Not that this isn’t tedious nationalistic bullshit, but there we are. I did get some moments of tension and joy from some of NZ’s medals so I can’t claim I don’t buy into the hype at least to some extent

Hard to sum up GB's overall performance. If you'd said that only USA and China would win more medals, you'd think that would be a superb performance. But when only 21% of those are Gold, it looks a bit different. Some were unlucky, not much you can do if you produce a personal best and someone goes better. Others simply blew winning positions.

Keeley Hodgkinson will be lauded as the GB Queen of the games and looks a shoe in for SPOTY. Pidcock's performance the most astonishing whilst the Rowers were the best team (which is somewhat of a concern given where most of these guys stem from).
I love keely and her winning so easily was amazing but slightly disappointed she didn't go for the double like Kelly did. Ingubritsen competed in about 3 or 4 events. I still think she wins the 800m even if she goes for the 1500 too.

Ingebrigsten competed in 2 events - 1,500m and 5,000m.

There is zero evidence from Hodgkinson's career that she is capable of competing at 1,500m (her PB is a 4:30 she ran when she was 15), and trying to do so may have compromised her training for the 800m.

If anything, she's more likely to double up by competing at 400m rather than 1,500m based on her career to date.

Yep, she's a speed athlete who has competed recently in 400m. Adding her to the 4 x 400m relay team could have some mileage.

Incredible to think NZ & Australia with a combined population of 30 million win 28 golds between them, just 12 less than joint winners USA & China.
It is noteworthy. I mean it’s not as if the US and China don’t have great wealth and resources either.
