Root has looked extremely good at times but sometimes a bit bored so does dumb stuff which isn't entirely unusual

Everyone missing Wagner-meme attack, but we have also relied heavily in these situations on Colin De Grandhomme to magic up a wicket doing whatever that thing it is that he does.
Bowl line and length mostly, which these 4 could equally be doing if they hadn’t decided/been instructed not to after lunch

Tbh, Boult’s looked the best of the bowlers for NZ in this game. Should have 2 or 3 to his name if his fielders would back him up.
Yeah you're never going to know ahead of time who you wish you'd left out.... this match it would be Jamieson. Took key wickets last match though.

Yeah, absolutely. Mitchell obviously isn't on the same level bowling-wise, but I wonder if he might be worth a try in case he can turn his batting heroics into a golden arm.

Jamieson could have got to that catch comfortably but I’d say Blundell is probably the culprit as it looked like he called Jamieson off it

Surely Jamieson could have got to that? Need to see a replay.
Showed the replay just before and Jamieson could absolutely have got hands to that if he'd run without stopping - might've needed a dive still but think quite catchable.

Obviously put off by Blundell haring towards it but failing to get anywhere near. Missed opportunity, basically a drop.

I don't know why Mitchell barely bowls for NZ - he looks quite handy as a fifth bowler to me and has a reasonable FC record.

Also time to give Macewell a bowl. Here he is - should be interesting.

Pretty questionable bowling effort so far, obviously the pitch is full of runs but an attack as accomplished as this needs to find ways of tightening things when things aren’t in its favour.

All the discussion about what's missing from our bowling attack (that we had not so long ago) and maybe Latham's captaincy is valid, but still can't help but think consideration #1 is we didn't take catches yesterday. Fundamentally a wicket that's nice to bat on, chances are rare and require a lot of toil to earn... and we butchered two of our first three.
