Taking a team from 3rd to champions on no money isn't as good as taking a team from mid-table to champions on no money.
No, it isn't.

But then again who has done that in the modern era?

And he didn't take them from 3rd to Champions.

It was 5th.

Interesting I think to compare George Graham's tenure at Arsenal and Wenger, they've been manager about the same length of time at Arsenal.

Graham: 2 league titles, 2 league cups, 1 FA Cup, 1 European Cup winners' cup

Wenger: 3 league titles and 3 FA Cups

Considering Wenger inherited part of Graham's team and the team Graham had inherited had done nothing for the past few years and the league cups and the lesser European cups meant something back then, I think Graham compares favourably. So why is it a certain person on CW thinks Arsene Wenger is the best thing since sliced bread?
How does Graham compare favourably for winning less domestic trophies?

Yes Wenger inherited a team from him, but it was underperforming and ageing.

And for your information I don't think he's the best thing since sliced bread, but I do think he's done a far better job when all things are considered than Taggart.

Considering Wenger inherited a team in the top 5, his record doesn't look that good to me.
Oh right.

In every full season he's managed he's attained a top 2 finish - and that's not good?

No other Club has done that, even those spending much more money...

Well, I worded it wrong. It is good, of course it is, but he isn't by far the best around, as Marc seems to think.
Again misphrasing what I said - funny how people are ignoring the bit about his net spend.

You make a good point, but he changed us from in the bottom 4 when he took over to Champions in '93 on virtually nothing.
Virtually nothing?

What are you on about?

And an Englishman... they support who they like. I can support Chelsea in Europe, but I'm not going to support the English team when they aren't English.
Caroll, Heinze, Keane, Giggs, Ronaldo, Horse, Saha, Silvestre, ...

Chelsea have Terry, Lampard, Johnson, Bridge, Cole, etc, plus no disgraceful divers like Pires.

Arsenal have Cole, Campbell, and a host of divers.
Whereas Manure don't have anyone who dives do they 8-)

True, but I bet Arsene's net expenditure is about half of Sir Alex's for the same period. Maybe even less.
Far far less.

I believe it's about the same as Taggart's net spend on Veron.

Arsenal come nowhere close to that. Also, the Academy is mostly English with Kieran Richardson one of the most outstanding along with Chris Eagles. Rossi's Italian but hey...
