For some reason you keep throwing in 'influential defender' - when I'm arguing their influence as a player. And the goals were amongst other things.

if you mean the second one, he didn't know much about it, just hit him and went over
Obviously, but it was still utterly unbelievable. Stupid faff around free kick instead of getting a shot on goal and it's another glorified stone paper scissors competition.

yeah why didnt gerrard just hit that? a total waste, just get it on target and there always a chance. Got to say i don't fancy Liverpool in the shoot-out, hope they prove me wrong

Yea Dida as we've seen has a pretty big wingspan on penalties - the one he saved was actually pretty well directed.

I'm glad Liverpool won, because AC Milan had already won on penalties recently, so they deserved to lose one as well. Secondly because UEFA don't get an easy way out, they have to make a decision now as to whether Liverpool are allowed back in the competition next season.

they've already decided Liverpool won't be in it next year
The FA have decided that they won't back Liverpool ahead of Everton, but they will back Liverpool to get an extra spot just because they are the champions.

I wish ITV would let up with that garbage about how England is behind Liverpool - 2 English players out of 11.
Oh come on, are you telling me you weren't supporting them?
