NZ Domestic Transfers - 2004/2005

Yes interesting article Kent. By the sounds of it, Ryder believes he's the one who's been the victim but lets hope Vaughan Johnson has got a grip of him & that Ryder will keep his word & start fresh.

World Traveller
I hope he (Ryder) isn't lost to the game. He, along with Ross Taylor, and Peter Fulton are the three best up-and-coming batsmen in NZ FC cricket.

Let's just say that Vincent won't play for NZ again unless he toughens up mentally & gets his feet moving a bit more.

Vincent is a useless fluffy bunny i would rather have Marcel Mckenzie than Wou Wincent.
Go can go a be president of goatland with Kylie Mills.

Vincent still played some nice innings in last year's State Champs. I would take him over any Otago batsman actually SM. I'm sure the Otago bosses would be very pleased to have Vincent if he ever is available for any other province.

Oh well, at least you still have a "NZ International" in Craig Cumming and what a success he turned out to be aye....

PLayed in the wrong form of the game, He isnt a one day player.
Cumming is very much respected down here abd we wouldint swap him for any other player in New Zealand.

I honestly don't think Otago could afford to reject Lou Vincent if he offered to play for them. He's still a good FC player.

Yeah, totally agree Tim.

So SM, this much talked-up Wasim of yours, he hasn't really delivered the goods yet.

Some Otago squad news
Nathan Morland has retired  , That was why Otago went after Redmond.
Both Todd and Redmond are expected to get contracts, Redomnd for Morland and Todd for Sheed :stupid:

Tim

Im not really that overally surprised that Jordan Sheed is going to miss out on a contract. How he even made the NZ U19's is interesting.

Morland retired? I thought he was only quite young.

It will be great to finally see Redmond start consistently without having to play behind Wiseman.

If anyone remembers, Redmond was seriously troubled by Alcohol a few years back..and he was in the same way that Ryder is right now. I think it was only last year that he got himself back on track & he definately needed to leave Canterbury to get more of a chance.

State Regular
Yeah I remember. It looks like the selectors like the look of Redmond, they have picked him for the SOO and NZ 'A' sides in the past few years even though he hasn't been in the best of form for Canterbury.

Redmonds bowling stats do like pretty average.
Jordan Sheed has to be one of the most average players i have ever seen, I have seen him troubled by 15 or 16 year old bowlers in club cricket.

I'm a bit concerned about the concentration of talent at Cant.............

IMO there is too much of a good thing, either for the players, or for NZ cricket as a whole.............as I can't see everyone being able to get a decent opportunity with that squad - players already have had a hard enough time last year when the int players were back and I can't see the situation improving any - hence Redmond's exit...........

so far as keeping the competition strong for the none too popular provinces - how about NZCC instigating something like a salary cap to keep the player pool evenly distributed.............they could then include some concessions for the minnows / strugglers / smaller provinces as they do here with the AFL & such..............

if they did this then they could look at an expansion for the likes of Hawkes Bay, and an eventual composite team into the AUS domestic comp...........

Anzac, the Canterbury squad is strong, but with the large number of Black Caps in that team, it looks pretty even.

The Black Caps are: Papps, Astle, McMillan, Cairns, Harris, McCullum+, Wiseman, Bond, Martin.

Take them out, and you've got an equally same strength a team as say Auckland or CD.
