Nothing happened to Amir. The **** accepted money to bowl no balls.
Genuine question, do you think Amir would have done it if he wasn't sharing a dressing room with Butt and Amir? Like if he had been born a couple of years later and had debuted under Misbah? Or if when he got selected both Butt and Asif were not a part of the side?

If he were isolated from the rest of the dressing room......

Do I think whether the fact that his captain and the leader of the bowling group asked him to do it helped him rationalise it in his own mind? Absolutely. Do I believe that it absolves him off even a tiny portion of his guilt? No.

Do you genuinely think that circumstances had nothing to do with Amir committing the crime? That he would have spot fixed regardless of the people around him?
That post was a joke aimed at your mistake. :p

I think from what I read he probably wouldn't have.

Okay I agree.

In that sense saying that it's unfortunate that this would 'happen' to Amir is justifiable, if what he means it's unfortunate that Amir happened to find himself in such a situation (Butt/Amir, background, team culture) where it became quite easy to rationalise such a terrible act. Lets not pretend that every other 19 year old cricketer in the history of the game wouldn't have acted the same way as Amir did given the circumstances.

By the same token though you could say it's unfortunate what happened to Butt. I can definitely imagine a set of circumstances in which Butt would not have spot fixed.

***** worded that badly, I think he meant that there would definitely be a few people who would've done the same if put in Amir's position. Not all obviously.

Ffs I mean Amir wouldn't isn't the only 19 year old inthe history of the game who would have acted in that way in that situation.

Tea break was over and my boss was looking and I had to wrap up that post quick.

And yea you could feel bad for Butt using the same line of reasoning, althought I would feel more sorry for Amir than Butt because Amir's situation was definitely a lot harder than Butt's.

Nothing wrong in feeling Amir was unfortunate here.

Haha. He was a 19 year old adult who committed a crime. He was not senile or any thing. The people who paid to watch the game were unfortunate to be cheated, not him.
