There a quite a few duds/outdated players in the Aus team just like the Indian team.Nah it’s embarrassing. I mean good on them and tbf I didn’t watch either game and kept up via score updates, but Australia should never lose to Afghanistan in any format, anywhere. If they bow out at this insultingly early stage it will at least hopefully mean a total rethink of the T20 side, which has been persisted with well beyond its collective use by date
Stoinis and Warner have performed well so farThere a quite a few duds/outdated players in the Aus team just like the Indian team.
There's Tim David, Warner, Wade and even Stonis imo.
No, it’s astonishing. It should never happenStoinis and Warner have performed well so far
I just don't think these kind of wickets suit them at all. And when you make basic mistakes like catching and the oppo plays the perfect game, the result is not all that surprising
Ahh yes, two of the best middle order t20 cricketers, one of whom has been player of the Tournament for us so far, are duds. Next level. There a quite a few duds/outdated players in the Aus team just like the Indian team.
There's Tim David, Warner, Wade and even Stonis imo.
That's a bit harsh. The two bats that haven't done anything this WC are Marsh and David, while Warner and Stoinis have done well. The iffy selection for me was Wade over Inglis (and Agar should retire to club cricket)Warner is keeping out Fraser McGurk!! Ofcourse he falls in the outdated player category. While Stonis is a dud. Stonis may have performed in this WC but he is a substandard/inconsistent player in general and has been for a long time. I doubt many true Australian fans want him in Australian sides.
Unlikely, Australia's NRR is 0.22 & Afghan's is -0.65 so Australia really just need to win vs India for all intents & purposes.Horrible format ..
South Africa have one bad game and they out , but a win and they face potentially Afghanistan in the Semi final, Australia have one bad game and now even if they win vs India they could go out if Afghanistan destroy Bangladesh
tim david for agarAustralia should have dropped haze not starc.
It's actually 0.22 after their loss, Afghanistan need to win by about +35 runs to take over Australia.Unlikely, Australia's NRR is 2.22 & Afghan's is -0.65 so Australia really just need to win vs India for all intents & purposes.
In other sports it goes to h2h first. Here it goes to the maths first .It's how it is in round robins unfortunately. Sometimes you can lose a few and still make it eg Pakistan. Sometimes one loss is enough to knock you out. Thats how it is in other sports too. Nothing different here.
And if India finishes in 2nd place in Group 1, they will play the "winner" of Group 2.
Apparently cricinfo misinformed the public. There's no special guarantees for any team. Though India will play their semi final in day time in Guyana but they have not played any other matches there, so conditions will be as new for them as anybody else. No advantage.
Yes correcting that typo I meant 0.22 & my point still stands. If Australia manage to beat India which will see that go up, they'd need the Afghans to absolutely pump Bangladesh to overtake their NRR, and I think Bangas will fair better against Afg in these conditions than the likes of Aus & NZ.It's actually 0.22 after their loss, Afghanistan need to win by about +35 runs to take over Australia.
Agree. I hope NZ try to sign him. He played domestic cricket here for several years.Trott seems to be a good coach
No thats incorrect. It's usually goal difference first. Which is football's NRR. If there is a 3-way tie then Head to Head doesn't really work. So NRR/goal difference is preferred. In other sports it goes to h2h first. Here it goes to the maths first .
It is a special guarantee to know where your semi will be no matter whether you finish second or first in the group.
as long as you lot don't poach fleming from csk i don't careAgree. I hope NZ try to sign him. He played domestic cricket here for several years.
