I can see Kohli scrapping another ton in Sydney especially if it's another flat pitch. That can justify his tour frankly compared to Rohit who is a walking wicket.

Whether Kohli should make it to England is another question.

If he manages two tons, then this tour would frankly be middling and not necessarily bad, and then like it or not, he will go to England.

Bro he just sucks now its not that deep
The problem isn't just he sucked, the problem is that he still throws his wicket in the same ****ing 6th stump outswinger till now. For 5 years, he got out trying to drive a 6th stump outswinger...... Are you kidding me?? That's ****ing pathetic. With that level of self control he shan't play internationally.

The problem is that he doesn't look in bad form or anything. Middling the ball well. Even against NZ in India. He is just getting out in odd and silly ways. Looks quite lax.

Has there ever been a more prolonged fall from greatness than Kohli?

God like and talked of as being up there with Sachin and now ridiculed as being like Crawley. The only ones I can think of are Botham and Waqar and Botham hardly played in the last few years as he was usually injured anyway. Waqar was a sad case going from express pace, fearsome and averaging 20ish to almost medium pace and nothing like his old self.

The Shastri comment about 3/4 more years is laughable. Stick.a fork in him, he's done.
His drop off is similar albeit worse than Ponting. On the one hand Ponting was a lot older at start of his drop.

But then Kohli batting in a harder era and COVID cricket I reckon a big factor for his drop off.

Ponting can be forgiven his, given he was already 34 and at where decline becomes expected. Kohli has lost 3 years at his peak, so much more inexplicable.

I have zero love for Kohli. But his decline started in a COVID bubble cricket world.

I reckon that would have tested a lot of the greats in a way they'd have never imagined.

A big gap without playing any cricket and when they did play in a restrictive environment.

Exactly. Lacks the drive and sheer determination

It's gutting because like ABD, I know instinctively Kohli is a better quality bat than Dravid but he doesn't have the career to justify that.
Considering Kohli can't play back foot, it is hard to see how he is a quality batter than Dravid.
Whole reason he fishes outside off is because drive is the only reliable scoring shot he has on offside.

Kohli is probably better against bounce, but Dravid beats him in lateral movement (swing & seam) and spin.

Don't really rate either Kohli or Dravid against spin.

If Kohli, Pujara and Rahane retired after 2019 all on their 32nd year:

Rahane would have retired averaging 44 in 63 tests instead of 38 now.

Pujara would have retired averaging 50 in 75 tests instead of 43 now.

Kohli would have retired averaging 55 average in 84 tests instead of 47 now.

All of them are averaging in the 20s since then.
