Kevin Pietersen Retires From ODIs and T20Is

Viscount Tom

International Debutant
Nursery age.

In any case he's said that he would have been available for the WT20 but the ECB selection policy means that if they rule themselves out of one format they're not going to be selected for the other.Bit daft from the ECB IMO.

Been able to play T20 well doesn't mean your going to crack it at ODIs.

Surely with a World Cup to defend this couldn't have been managed better between the ECB and KP, especially if it was just about time off from one-dayers, it's not as if we don't have a few pointless 50 over games this summer.

Yes for some reason they seem to link them together.

Surely the ECB will rejig their policy in order to keep Pietersen for the WT20. Isn't he ranked first?

It's a very strange decision. This might not prolong his Test career as some expect, it could have negative effects. The lack of international cricket against top opposition, albeit in the limited overs formats, could hurt him during big Test match series.

Surely the ECB will rejig their policy in order to keep Pietersen for the WT20.
Doubt it. Hugh Morris has already come out and said that the selection criteria in place is sensible and Pietersen will be replaced in both T20I and ODI squads. I can't see them going back on that, particularly not the ECB who stick to their guns and don't just change policies to accommodate individual players. If anyone changes their mind, it'll be Pietersen.

Absurd. Take a break from some of ODI and T20 slots right. Why go straight into retirement? And beside also saying that he will keep playing IPL. Retire from IPL bs* too then. Then there's CLT20 which he will play. Baffling and puzzling. But the good thing that atleast he's playing test but once he hit a rough patch, selectors will drop him without much hesitation as where he will prove his worthwhile God knows. Been a fan of KP, but this s**ks

Its not a case of him actually retiring from the T20 internationals, he wants to play the T20 but like a lot of England players clearly has no real love for the 50 over game and TBH I can't say I blame him its too long for a one day game and it doesn't have the story of a test match.

David Hopps:
Kevin Pietersen did return in time for England's first Test against West Indies but if his Twitter account was a true reflection, his thoughts were often elsewhere. Playing for Surrey in a championship match at Worcester ahead of the first Test, he got out as Surrey successfully fought to save the game, and tweeted not about the sterling efforts of his county colleagues in the match he was playing in, but excitedly about Delhi Daredevils' next match. Get used to it, is Pietersen's response.
