We always win or draw the home Ashes. It’d be more interesting for him to go out after a win against sides who occasionally win series here, like Sri Lanka or New Zealand.
Nah recovering the Ashes is always a grand way to exit. McWarne in 2007 and Flintoff in 2009 come to mind.

The tricky part is keeping track of how much he’s able to bowl. If it gets to the point where opposition bats just aren’t scoring off him knowing that they only have to face 10 overs from him in a day, which we’ve seen glimpses of in this series in Pakistan, it’ll flatter his figures while not especially benefitting the side.
Frankly it's his opening spell that's most important in England.

A draw would be a fitting end tbh - almost but not quite, much like the man himself
170 + test matches for his country, highest pace wicket taker of all time........yep Anderson's life and career is definitely an "almost there"

You're just looking stupid now Ol mate.

Has Anderson peaked lol? Aside from 20.27 after his 2nd test, his current average is his best.

Whether or not he's an ATG there is no fast bowler in world cricket that is anywhere near as engrossing to watch as Jimmy. The way he toys with batsmen and executes plans that might take a number of overs to pay off, with perfect control, is absolutely unrivalled. It's like watching a fast-medium bowler with the mindset of a great spinner.

If you look at his averages both home and away in the last 10 years, he is basically an atg for those 10 years.
Which is equal to some other great bowler who just played for 10 years.

So we are allowed to ignore 10 years of a player’s career if it suits us? Anyway he still has a worse away average than literally every ATG pacer over that period.

Looks like it. Nicky Boje was an ATG batsman for a month, let's just ignore the rest of his career

The fact he's playing at 40 and producing high class performances plus contributing to winning Test matches should be as much on the table as his overseas averages in different countries.

A lot of people count out the likes of Shane Bond for ATG status for lack of longevity, so the fact Anderson is going to play 20 years at the top should absolutely add weight.

Incidentally, in that time (think it was 10 years) in Australia, which overseas seamers did average under 30?

Quite a few, but across less Tests. Not that it's much to talk about since averages both good or bad can be flattering compared to wickets taken per game in terms of impact.

Though I do think that Anderson getting looked after a lot better than most players is why he's able to extend his career to this extent.

So Temba Bavuma is a better seamer in Australian conditions than peak Anderson.

Yeah but it's 20 years for England. Come on, who else would they have picked in that time?
