if india lose the next test by 200 runs its patels fault
That's a pretty silly comment. Patel has been atrocious but it takes more than one person to lose or win a Test match.

It would include Agarkar who did not bowl well at all, and very expensive in the context that it is a test match.

As well as the top order. The play of the entire Indian top order contributed to their demise. Yes, the Aussies bowled well, but India really was too negative at times. Kaif was a bit risky at times, but looked pretty good overall.

You really can't blame Sachin, Laxman and Dravid for this, can you? They're the only world class batsmen the team has got.

Forget about him. He shouldn't have been picked at all. Much as Ravi Shastri makes good points, his support for Agarkar is ridiculous- he doesn't find any fault with a bowler whose Test average after four years is 44 and his ODI average of 28 hides an equally dismal final average of 41. As for his batting, you can always ask Boycott. He can name 4 better tail-end batsmen in the Indian team.

The structure and working of the selection committee needs to change. The selectors don't really think of the national team's performance, and only try to use the team to promote regional players who don't deserve an India cap. The final team selection should be the decision of a Chairman and a Deputy Chairman, and the zonal selectors should just watch for players good enough to make the team, and recommend the players to the top two. Moreover, the Chairman and his deputy should be tough, stern and firm, when it comes to decisive selections, and must not let the captain make a mess of their plans.

Despite being Vice President of the AAAS, I'll agree with you. Every time I've hoped Ajit delivers, he hasn't, infact he's flopped miserably. So sad as well, he has all the tools that can make a fine cricketer. Although Agarkar is very much suited to the ODI game, but perhaps we need to look at other, better options in the test side.

Surprising, since you're more supportive than even the President. He would have been more useful, had he been a top-6 batsman. Given his size and his pace, he wouldn't have gone very far as a bowler (Marshall was very fast, and Gough could get swing at a very good pace, and they were slightly taller and better built, and not much can be said of Best, Fidel or Slinga as of now), but since a lot was said about his batting in his younger years.

The problem with cricket in India is that conditions don't allow young players to expand on their cricketing skills. Maybe it is the condition of the average cricket ground. Maybe the methods of coaching don't allow it. Or it's just the case of playing too many matches on the trot. According to Kallis and Klusener, conditions in India are not as conducive to create all-rounders, as in South Africa, and Zulu in particular mentioned the slow pitches. But when you find a player like Ramesh Powar whose statistics are not only impressive, but he can also swing a match his team's way, he is left out for a long time, gets one match because the top specialist spinner is out injured, then gets barely a role in a match, then gets dropped with no sign of recall. The Times of India Mumbai edition journalists know their cricket, and rate him highly.

Hey, I'm supportive of the man!

However I also know what the AAAS stands for - it doens't matter if he fails or succeeds for us - it's the fact he's there!

Hi MB. I agree Agarkar is talented but it is the most wasted natural talent that i have ever seen. Here is one cricketer who badly needs a good coach to tell him what to do. I have fretted and fumed about AA. I am convinced now that he has no clue as to what he should do and what he shouldnt.

This is not inconsistency. This is a totally disconnected head and body. So dont be surprised by anything he does, remarkably good or abysmally wretched :p .

I am dead serious.

Given your opinions of Indian bowlers, I thought this society was a joke, especially from statements such as "Nobody said that Agarkar is a world class player". Until some die-hard fans joined it.

Really It goes much further back than that,I've liked him the moment he made he debuted in 1998 i think against zimbabwe,Ajit still keeps hopes alive for me...
After all we as spectators can only hope...And I think India as a whole team has performed worse than Ajit in recent days... More so the selectors... Can ya'll remember Ajay Jadeja...He rocks too... Thinkin abt startin a AJAS also...

And because they're world class they take an hour to get in then get out to decent but not outstanding deliveries? Surely some more positive play would have achieved at least the same end result and likely had more runs on the board before it.

As world class players, at least one them should have tried to play like one and take some fight to the Aussies. As it is, it's been a pretty disappointing submission.

Yes, but Boycott also thinks that most of the bowlers in the world couldn't bowl him mum out.

Boycott is almost always right.

Could someone explain why? When average tailenders and struggling has-beens are making merry against this attack, what do the World XI trio fear?

Is someone not doing their job?

and i doubt either tactic would have worked any more successfully....sehwag tried it and it didnt work did it?
im afraid as much as we'd like not to believe, there is no weak link in this australian bowling attack. they have 4 quality bowlers, all of whom are just about as capable of keeping the pressure on for long periods of time. unlike before there is no b.lee to release the pressure with some rubbish 95 mph bowling wide outside the off stump and there is no macgill bowling 2 half volleys every over. i fear for england in the next ashes after looking at this aussie bowling attack, all of them are extremely suited to the genuine english conditions, even moreso than the english bowlers.

Yet I tend to rate Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman a tad higher than I do Sehwag.
