How Are You Doing On CM?

22 games down, 6 points clear of Chelsea. Just *had* to draw them in the fifth round of the FA though. PSG in the first knockout round of the CL too, so Europe is gonna be one hell of a challenge.

At the point where I have to choose between RvP and Wilson as my second striker though; both unhappy with playing time since Lewandowski is a guaranteed start and I rarely play more than the one up front.
Probably bin off VP. Must be getting on in years by now.

Yeah, that's the plan. Would get rid of Wilson and bring in someone else, too, but de Gea apparently wants to leave for bigger challenges and I need to strengthen the RB position.

Chelsea are absolutely dominating. I've had a late-season slump so need results to go my way (i.e. a Chelsea loss/draw or two) for me to re-take the league. Meanwhile, I drew Chelsea in the CL quarters (hence the desperate 'how the **** do I win/minimise damage at Stamford Bridge?').

Bournemouth in the FA semis. Watch me lose that one too (and my job with it).

My general approach in the away games like that is to just play with the same formation/tactics etc... but play with a slower build up and be less attacking. Dropping the attacking wide players back into midfield also occasionally helps, particularly if you can bring in someone with a high work rate to replace a super attacking winger.

Always used to drop an attacking player to put in an anchor man as well, but that doesn't seem to work well these days.

Turns out FM is realistic. Started a new game as Everton and we're ****ing terrible. Can't defend for toffee, Lukaku is doing nothing, and our only glimmer of hope is that Deulofeu does something spectacular. 6 games, 5 losses, 3 points sees us in the bottom three. Need to step up quickly.

Wingers and inside forwards on support rather than attack is pretty much a must I've found.

Yeah, playing with a defensive winger can be handy as well. In a Newcastle save from a couple of versions ago I used to bring in Marveaux to do that job in pretty much every away game. Worked really well.

Started a save as Leicester about a week or so ago to try and replicate their RL success and having a much better time of things with them than I did with Everton. 3 games left in the season and we're sat at the top of the league, 5 points clear of Man City (who we play next). Table looks like this:

I'm running an updated DB and Vardy and Mahrez are absolutely insane. Vardy far and away the top goalscorer with better than a goal a game. Managed to beat his own record scoring in 14 consecutive league games and became only the 6th player to score consecutive Premier League hat-tricks. The league player stats look like:

Leicester players doing very nicely indeed. Okazaki has been a revelation in a Shadow Striker role behind Vardy. Mahrez has been absolutely immense, adding 15 goals to his 13 assists. I've basically tried to emulate Ranieri's tactics to some extent, so have the wing-backs set to limited, Albrighton as a wide-midfielder with a fairly defensive mindset, basically setting a solid platform so that Vardy, Mahrez and Okazaki have complete freedom to attack. Here's how my tactics look with my full-strength XI:

Wanted an extra CB to work alongside Huth and Morgan. Discovered Mammana and have been so impressed with him. He's 20 and only cost me £3.7m but he's been absolutely superb. Average rating of 7.2 and has started 29 BPL games. Then I brought Hector in, initially as a back-up to Fuchs, but again he was so good that he ended up taking over the role full-time. I then needed a back-up to Simpson because he kept getting suspended so bought Kyle Walker in on loan, he's been very good, and rotates with Simpson. Then the only other change I've made is bringing in Óliver from Atletico on Loan to provide back-up to both Drinkwater and Okazaki. He's barely featured (much to Simeone's dismay) but been a solid back-up when required.

Started making plans for next season after securing CL football, and secured the signing of this gentleman:

Pretty stupid signing really. He's on way too much money, but only on a year deal, and it's freaking Zlatan, I couldn't say no. Much better back-up to Vardy than Ulloa who's just bitched all season despite doing nothing when he has played.

So, erm, this just happened:

Means we need just 1 point to go our way to win the league. City now can't catch us, Arsenal need to pray we lose our last 2 games, that they win all 3 of theirs, and they manage to gain 16 goals on us. We're champions. I was expecting a solid season, but not this good. These Leicester players have received some major upgrades in the Winter Transfer update. Would have been a better challenge on the original DB. Ah well, still done it. Now to win the CL.

Approaching the 2019/20 season, and struggling. Spent all my funds to bring in Pogba. Chelsea are just unstoppable. I bid 50mil for Dyabla... they bid 80mil. I got nothing.

Won the league by 6 points. Vardy ended up with 44 goals, absolutely insane. Summer was spend clinging on to Vardy, Mahrez and Kante and I managed to do it. Did sell a couple of players. Kramaric returned from his loan and got sold, Ulloa, Fuchs and Schlupp all left and then Bayern came in for my left back Jonas Hector. I paid £9m for him and they came in with an offer for £18m after some negotiation. Was difficult, but couldn't really say no to doubling my money in 1 season on him. With those guys leaving I made the following signings:

Zlatan the biggest name, he will rotate with Okazaki at SS behind Vardy. Denis Suarez was the big money signing. Wanted a top class winger to support Albrighton and Suarez was available, has fantastic attributes and looks like an absolute class player. Also brought Tielemans in to help fill in in midfield, with Kante, Drinkwater, Inler and Tielemans we're looking very strong in that area.

Champions League group has been drawn and I'm pretty happy with it:

Gives me a good chance to get through to the knockouts and potentially put a run together. Also managed to beat Arsenal in the Community Shield to win my 2nd trophy as Leicester manager. Going well!

Not sure if it's worth it if you played 15, but as someone who went directly from 14 to 16 and spent 800+ hours on it, I say yes.

EDIT: May have been 13, actually. Dunno.

I've skipped 16 myself, didn't seem worth it., especially given the amount of hours it takes to have a decent run at it. Unless theres been massive gameplay changes, then every other one is my way of doing it. I'm not paying for a data update when it's going to be obsolete by the time I've played one season.

16 is one of the tougher versions in recent years, I have found. Enjoyable, but I have found it infuriating too.

Made the mistake of playing drunk last night. Have woken up to find I have done a Harry Redknspp and bought about a million attacking midfielders.

Yep, picked him up for £10.5m, in 15/16 left him at Ajax for the rest of the season. Spent 2 years as understudy, then one year at Milan, now first choice striker, edging out the aging Rooney (19/20 season). Hit 20 in 23 in the league this year.

Anyone else ever pick up Hirving Lozano? Picked him up relatively cheap in the first season (think it was about £4-5m with addons), bloke just doesn't stop scoring for me. Use him as a Raumdeuter on the right, regularly scored off the bench, then when Mata got injured last year he grabbed his chance. Ended up flogging Mata for £23m to Juve - Fans were pissed (he was amazing TBF), but he's 31 and wasn't going to start much this year

Nice to see the real Utd scouts are basically using my save game as a template for rebuilding.

Anyone playing the new FM? When I bought it it came with FM Touch included and I've hardly touched the full game, FM Touch is just so good. Racing through a season right now and it's brought the enjoyment back to FM.

I'm playing as Everton, currently coming towards the end of my first season and doing okay. 7th in the league but managed to win the League Cup so secured European football for next year. Bought in some good players with the funds raised by selling Funes Mori, Mirallas, Kone and Robles. I bought in Donnarumma from AC Milan, Andrea Belotti from Torino for £12m and then made my best signing bringing in Domagoj Vida from Dynamo Kyiv for £11m. He's a versatile defender who can play all across the back 4. Has superb all-round attributes, and has put in some superb performances. Also, his value has doubled and interest is starting to come in from the big boys so even if you buy him to flip him after a season and make some good profit he's a handy signing.

My Strongest XI is:

----------------------------Donnarumma--------------------------
---Coleman-------Vida----------Jagielka-----------Oviedo----
-------------------------------Gueye-------------------------------------
--------------------McCarthy--------Barkley---------------------------
-----Deulofeu-----------------------------------------Bolasie------------
--------------------------Lukaku/Belotti----------------------------------

Only real surprise there is Oviedo in at left back. I started the season with Baines, but he picked up an injury and Oviedo filled in and was superb. From his 10 starts he has an average rating of 7.45 with 2 assists and a goal; compared with Baines who's averaging 7.00 with no assists and 2 goals from penalties. Oviedo's been class.

Looking likely I'll finish in my current position of 7th, which TBH, I'm happy with. We've had 1 bad run of results, which if we can avoid that next season we could easily manage Top 4.

On 17, always start unemployed with decent rep. So took the Everton job myself when they languished in 19th at the halfway point of season 1. 40 points in the final 19 games got me to 9th, and I'm currently 5th after 25 games of season 2, 6 pts of Spurs in 4th.

Did a massive overhaul of the squad in the summer, sold Barclay (was approaching last year of contract, wouldn't sign) for £30m and Lukaku as I was offered £45m (rising to £58m). Managed to fleece Marseilles of £24m for Bolasie and Monaco gave £13m for Gueye. Have spent a bit to strengthen the overall squad, though first signing was Kiko Casilla for £4m which I think was a steal. Also grabbed Belotti myself and he's just started to find his form. Did grab Depay on loan for the end of season 1, 11 goals in 16 games did for me, then brought in Lozano for season 2 (I owe him the loyalty for his gunness for me on FM15). Getting Lucas Lima at the back end of season 1 made selling Barclay so much easier

Current team is

----------------------------Casilla--------------------------
---Coleman-------Koulibaly----------Pezzella-----------Baines/Galloway----
-------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------McCarthy--------Wanyama---------------------------
-----Januzaj-------------------Lucas Lima----------------------Lozano------------
--------------------------Moussa Dembele/Belotti----------------------------------
