GB - an important question.

Graham

3rd Umpire
I have 11 players I'd like to keep, but obviously can only keep 10.
My question is this - if I trade a player for a draft pick, does that mean I can only keep 9 players and have an extra draft pick or do I keep 10 and drop my 6th trade pick?

For u to be able to keep 11 players u would only be able to have 5 draft picks....

so if u wanted to keep 12 u could only have 4 DP, and so on....
:D :D :D :D

In addition to this, if teams want to keep a full squad of 16 players then they would be allowed but then would have to trade off all draft picks...

But if I wanted to keep 11 of the players that I've already got, am I able to? Would it mean that I'd still have my round 1,2,3,4 and 5 draft picks and automatically forfeit the 6th round draft pick?

Yes you can keep 11 but you have to trade one of your draft picks off, so you pick which draft pick you want to get rid of or who offers you the best deal for one

Yeah, i should clarify this a bit better...

U can keep up to 16 players in the cull, BUT if u keep 16 then u would have to get rid of all your draft picks....

so keep 15 u get 1 DP
keep 14 u get 2 DP
13 = 3
12 = 4
11 = 5
10 = 6
9 = 7
8 = 8

and so on......

I'm not sure that we're on the same track here.
If I keep Swann, Lloyd, Mane, Dravid, Roberts, Young, Flintoff, Schofield, Martin, Maiden and Hogg does this mean I keep my 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th round draft picks and automatically drop the 6th round draft pick?

I think this should have been made clearer at the start GB. I was under the impression that I couldn't keep more than 10 players unless I traded away a draft pick.

Basically when the CUll takes place u MUST only have 16 players or equivalent to 16 player(1 draft pick is equivelant to 1 player)
So however u want to go about it is up to u, if u would just like to relinquish your 6th DP then thats fine...

U tell me what u were planning on doing and ill let u know if thats ok....

Right you have 6 picks...

You want to keep 11 players...

Therefore you must trade 1 draft pick...

That pick that you want to get rid off is up to you.....

If you tell people that the 6th pick is up for grabs, someone might give you a better deal for say your 3rd round pick.....

It's up to you but if you want to keep 11 players 1 pick must go....

Hope this makes it clear :D

This is difficult to understand as GB you're both telling me differently.
I gave an example of what I would possibly like to do just before.

What we are saying is the same but in slightly different ways..I will give you a example using the players you said above

Your team must end up with 16...These 16 can be made up of players or draft picks

Your Team

Swann
Lloyd
Mane
Dravid
Roberts
Young
Flintoff
Schofield
Martin
Maiden
Hogg
-------- Players = 11

Therefore you must make up the numbers with draft picks... At the begining we said keep 10 players and have 6 picks, however we don't mind if you wish to keep 11 and only have 5 picks, BUT as you own that extra draft pick you must trade it to someone....You have 6 rounds of draft picks so you are most likly to trade the 6th pick. but if someone else needs a better draft pick then they might offer you a deal for one of you higher picks.

Any better???

Yeah that is correct, so if, u release ur draft pick to someone, then u would have 11 players plus 5 picks...

U could trade the DP for a player u want and then release another player....
or u could trade 2 of ur DP's to a team for a better player, that way u would have 12 players and 4 picks....

Graham

But how can I trade away a draft pick if I can only have a squad of 16?
If I decide to keep 11 players and keep 5 draft picks, how can I trade away my 6th draft pick? Wouldn't I just forfeit that 6th pick?

Blewy

Cricketer Of The Year
Thats what i was saying before, u would just relinquish it...

But like i said if there was a player who u were still after u could trade 2 DP's for him that way u could keep 12 and still have 4 picks...

Thanks GB. I thought that was what you meant, but Rich was confusing me with his interpretation! Sorry Rich! ;)
