Ah well, down we go. Glad it over and done with early. Would have been a killer if it had taken until late tomorrow and our hopes had been built up.

It's just been one of those seasons. So long as we keep hold of the majority of the squad, we ought to come back up. It's been such a massive underperformance this year that I'd be very surprised if we play anything like as bad.

In other news, it's an entertaining day for Hildreth to suddenly start his season.

Gonna need a demon evening session to keep the pressure on, praying Hogg doesnt remember he's actually really really crap and bowls like he has for the last 10 years.

I'm guessing Taunton is its usual batsmens paridise too....

Another ****house performance against abject mediocrity finishes off Durham's season aptly. A couple of decent runs but not enough consistency.

Two ex-Durham players doing nicely elsewhere... Coetzer making 84 and Will Gidman taking 4-41 so far to take his season tally to 50, just needs 23 runs to get the 1000 runs to go with it.

Only our batting line up performs weakly, but they all have potential. Our bowling has been amongst the best in the division all season despite having no superstars. If we manage to score more than you tomorrow then you should be embarrased.

Well that is us down, is disappointing after being in this division for a pretty long time now but has been coming for years really. A couple of Imran Tahir months in 2008 aside we have been pretty poor in four day cricket since Warne left which is not really good enough when you consider the amount of resources we have,

Don't think this is the worst thing in the world though, would like to see the squad trimmed down somewhat (Lumb already gone) and hope that our young players can come on and really perform well in division two, a year winning games and hopefully getting promotion could do them an awful lot of good.

Always been impressed by Coetzer. Has he left for good? Be silly to let him go as di Ventuo can't go on forever and Stoneman and Smith are minor.

Also, what's the score with Mark Davies? Hasn't played a game at all this season (just second XI cricket) and will be 31 next month. Finished?

Liam Plunkett seems to have fallen off the radar as well.

Presumably the high profiled Kolpak cricketers de Wet and Myburgh won’t be kept on. They haven’t done crap or been seen since the start of the summer. Cork is apparently leaving but it might be worth while bringing back David Balcombe, especially as he seems to like division 2 cricket. Balcombe has taken 30 wickets for Kent in 5 county games, including four five-wicket hauls. Impressive.

Not sure how to feel about Surrey getting promoted.

Rationally speaking, it's probably a good thing because a side like Gloucstershire would almost certainly go down again, and with Surrey we've a side with a proper ground and some promising players getting a run in the top division.

On the other hand, irrationally speaking, just **** Surrey, you know?

How impressive are Tim Linley's stats for the season - 72 wickets @ 18, SR 39, ER 2.79. Not bad for a journeyman. Imagine the hype if Dirtbag, Meaker or Jordan were that good?

Not a regular England domestic cricket follower...its the final stage now, last 4 matches being played, right?

Found a good stream to watch Hampshire v Warwickshire a bit. Chanderpaul 170, very few spectators and rain :)
