Saturday 29th January

CW Blue v CW Red
at the CW Oval

Decent batting surface with good bounce and the Blues chose to bat first after winning the toss. They were met first up with some good bowling from the Reds, but positive play from Fitzsimmons and de Silva shone through.

Despite a late burst by Borcich, the end score was a decent 269/8. In the end that would prove more than enough as the Reds were strangled by the opening spell from the Blues and found the RRR spiralling upward throughout the innings.

Kenny Dobson played for his third consecutive OD fifty of his career, but could not salvage victory and was caught at midon off Fuller in the late dealings.

Man of the Match: MW de Silva

CW Black v CW Green
at the CWBCC Stadium

Rebounding smartly from their heavy 5D defeat a couple days ago, the Greens took a 123-run win over Black in front of their home crowd. Top strokeplay from captain Garven, Craig Walsh and Anthony Lezama set a good platform, but a maiden 5-wicket haul for Mike Wilson ensured that the total was kept below 300.

Chasing, Black never really got going. Wickets fell early to leave the score 57/4 and the Greens chipped away at regular intervals to collapse the score at a disappointing 155.

Man of the Match: NS Hoy

Great win Greens, after the big loss yesterday we really dug in and played a great whole game. Hopefully we will be able to carry on our form into the 4d game against the Blacks tmrw.

After some......terrible performance's by me over the last few matches it was great to have a deacent all round game. 26 at a run a ball and 3/29 i would take most any day of the week.

Sensational win Blue! Every 2nd batsman making a good contribution and every bowler doing well.

Brilliant stuff from Nath and great restriction halsey. But Demeza, Phillips and Fuller also need to be congratulated. And let's not forget Sudeep's 3 balls :D!

Well done Blue!

Very nice all round performance from the team. The batting finally clicked after a poor start to the year, with De Silva, Fitzsimmons and Crampton forming big partnerships early in the innings, giving the opportunity for the lower order to hit big in the final overs and lift the run rate. Special mention has to go to Phillips for his aggressive 29 off 17 at the end, and his vital 34 run stand for the 9th wicket with Demeza.

The bowling continued where it left off in the last one dayer, with everyone showing touch. Hasley strangled the reds in the middle of the innings going for under three an over, and the rest of us took advantage of the pressure he was building and picked up wickets at the end.

That's two in a row in the one dayers guys, let's translate that to first class form.

I'm not too happy with our OD game at the moment, There are definite weaknesses here. We all have to pull our socks up a bit in the OD department.

Great win, guys - it's the first time Greens have showed what we have to offer in the OD department this season - before now no bowler had more than one OD wicket and only two batsmen had more than 50 runs over the past two games - good to see our boys back in form! Well done to the upper order for setting the game up allowing for our lower order to show that they're competent batsmen, and well done to our bowlers for hammering the nails in the coffin so early! That's got to be a bonus point to us. :)

Also well done to Mike Wilson of the CW Blacks for his five-fer... we'll do our best to make sure that doesn't happen against the CW Greens again. ;)

Pity about the loss Reds, like they say, cant win them all. Blues batsmen just got away from us in their innings and the batsmen who got starts just couldnt continue when the reds batting. Perhaps converting is something us Reds need to look at when we are batting.

Showing our batting weakness there lads...pleased with my six, not much else...

However, it's a one-day game, some random things have to happen. No one could expect a knock like that from de Silva and Crampton, for example...and a shame that Chris couldn't get as many wickets as we're used to.
